We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

EV Charger Installation Service

An EV charger installation gives your electric vehicle a safe, fast, and convenient place to charge right at home every night. Charging right at home is far more convenient than relying on public charging stations, and it costs less per mile in most cases. Wallace Electric installs EV chargers for homes and businesses of all kinds throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we serve. A home EV charger draws a heavy continuous load for hours at a time, so the installation requires careful planning and a proper dedicated circuit. Our licensed electricians carefully size the circuit, the breaker, and the wiring to match your specific charger and your home’s available capacity. They always confirm your electrical panel can safely support the charger before any of the work begins. A level two charger, which is the most common home choice, requires a dedicated 240 volt circuit much like a large appliance does. Getting that dedicated circuit exactly right is absolutely essential, since an EV charger runs at high current for hours at a time. We install every charger fully to the National Electrical Code, with proper grounding and the required protection. A properly installed EV charger gives you reliable, safe, and worry free charging every single night of the week.

Understanding the different levels of EV charging helps explain why a proper installation matters so much. Level one charging uses a standard household outlet and adds only a few miles of driving range per hour. While level one charging certainly works in a pinch, it is simply far too slow for most people’s daily driving needs. Level two charging uses a dedicated 240 volt circuit and charges several times faster than level one does. A level two charger can fully recharge most electric vehicles overnight, which suits the needs of everyday driving perfectly. This is exactly why the vast majority of homeowners choose a level two charger for their home. Level two charging requires a dedicated circuit that is carefully sized to the charger’s specific amperage rating. The charger may be hardwired directly or connected to a special 240 volt outlet, depending on the specific model. Our electricians help you choose the right charger and the right installation method for your specific needs. This expert guidance ensures you get charging that genuinely fits your vehicle, your home, and your daily driving habits.

Installing an EV charger correctly involves several important steps that protect both your home and your vehicle. We always begin by confirming that your electrical panel has the capacity to support the charger’s heavy continuous load. A careful load calculation determines if your existing service can handle the new addition safely. If your panel turns out to lack the needed capacity, we discuss a service upgrade or other available options with you honestly. We then carefully size the dedicated circuit, the breaker, and the conductors to match your specific charger’s requirements. We run the new wiring from the panel all the way to the charger location, protecting it from damage every step of the way. We then mount the charger securely and either hardwire it or install the correct 240 volt outlet for it. We install the proper breaker, which is often a GFCI type, exactly as the code and the charger require. Every single connection is made to specification and carefully inspected before we ever energize the charger. The end result is a safe, reliable charging station that is ready to power your vehicle for many years.

The location of your EV charger matters far more than many homeowners first realize. A charger mounted in the garage right near where you actually park is the most common and convenient choice. The distance from the electrical panel to the charger directly affects the wiring run and the overall installation cost. A charger in a detached garage or carport may require a much longer run or even a dedicated subpanel. An outdoor charger needs a unit specifically rated for outdoor exposure and proper weather protection. We help you choose a location that carefully balances convenience, cost, and the practical realities of your home. We consider where you park, where the panel sits, and how you plan to use the charger every day. We route all of the wiring cleanly to keep the finished installation neat and well protected. The right location makes charging effortless and also keeps the installation itself efficient and tidy. Our electricians plan this location carefully so your new charger fits seamlessly into your everyday routine.

Your home’s available electrical capacity is the single key factor in any EV charger installation. A level two charger draws a significant continuous load for hours, often comparable to that of a large household appliance. Your panel must have both an open slot and enough spare capacity to handle that heavy load. Many homes already have plenty of capacity for a charger, while others need an upgrade to support one safely. A careful load calculation tells us exactly if your service can handle the new addition. If your panel is full or your service is undersized, we explain all of your options to you clearly. A service upgrade or a subpanel may be needed to provide the necessary capacity safely. We never install a charger on a panel that cannot safely support it, since doing so would invite a dangerous overload. This honest, upfront assessment protects your home from the real dangers of an overloaded electrical system. We treat your new charger and your home’s electrical capacity as one single connected project from the start.

A professionally installed EV charger delivers a range of benefits that go well beyond simple convenience. The most obvious benefit is the ability to charge at home overnight and simply wake up to a full battery. Home charging costs less per mile than most public charging does in most cases, which saves you real money over time. A properly sized dedicated circuit charges your vehicle faster and far more reliably than a basic household outlet. A proper dedicated circuit also protects your home from the overloads that improper charging can otherwise cause. A fully code compliant installation protects both your equipment warranty and your home insurance coverage. A quality charger installation can even add real value and appeal when the time comes to sell your home. As electric vehicles continue to grow more common, a home charger is an increasingly worthwhile investment. Our electricians ensure your charger is installed safely, correctly, and ready for many years of dependable use. This powerful combination of convenience, real savings, and safety makes home charging a genuinely smart choice.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your EV charger installation means choosing real safety, proven expertise, and genuine care for your home. We are a proudly family owned and operated company with deep and lasting roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every single technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly, carefully respect your home, and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish. Our white glove service reflects the genuine respect we hold for every home and business we are invited to enter. Flexible financing options help you comfortably handle a charger installation or a panel upgrade without straining your budget. A full five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the lasting quality of all of our work. We explain every recommendation in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and informed decision. For urgent electrical needs that cannot wait, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to help you fast. When you need an EV charger installed correctly the first time, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for EV Charger Installation in Burleson, TX

An EV charger draws a heavy continuous load, so it deserves the expertise of a licensed professional. A licensed electrician understands how to size the circuit and breaker for that demanding load. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed professional performs a load calculation to confirm your panel can support the charger. They know when a service upgrade or subpanel is needed to add the charger safely. They install the dedicated circuit and the proper breaker to the National Electrical Code. They pull the permits and schedule the inspections that the work requires. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. An improperly installed charger can overload your panel or overheat the wiring dangerously. A charger running for hours on an inadequate circuit is a genuine fire risk. Unlicensed work may save money today and create a serious hazard tomorrow. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every EV charger installation, so the work is always done right.

Commonly Asked EV Charger Installation Questions

EV charger installation raises several practical questions about cost, charging levels, and electrical capacity. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

The cost to install an EV charger at home depends on several factors unique to your situation. The distance from your electrical panel to the charger location affects the wiring run and cost. A charger in an attached garage near the panel costs less than one far away. The amperage of the charger affects the size of the circuit and conductors needed. The condition and capacity of your electrical panel play a major role in the total. A charger you already own is separate from the cost of the installation itself. Permit fees in your local jurisdiction add a modest amount to the project. Because every home differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins.

The state of your electrical panel can significantly affect the cost. If your panel has an open slot and spare capacity, the installation is straightforward. If your panel is full or your service is undersized, an upgrade may be needed. A panel upgrade or subpanel adds to the cost but provides the capacity safely. We perform a load calculation to determine exactly what your home requires. We inspect everything before quoting so there are no surprises midway through. If an upgrade is needed, we explain it clearly and let you decide. Financing options are available to make the project easier on your budget.

The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your home. We assess your panel, measure the run, and review the charger requirements. We determine whether your service can support the charger or needs an upgrade. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate EV charger installation quote.

Level 1 and level 2 charging differ mainly in speed and the power they use. Level 1 charging uses a standard 120 volt household outlet. It adds only a few miles of range per hour of charging. This makes level 1 too slow for most drivers with daily commutes. Level 2 charging uses a 240 volt circuit, the same voltage as a large appliance. It charges several times faster than level 1 charging. A level 2 charger can fully recharge most vehicles overnight. This speed is why level 2 is the standard choice for home charging.

The practical difference shows up in your daily routine. With level 1, you may not fully recharge overnight after a normal day of driving. The slow charging leaves you with limited range each morning. With level 2, you plug in at night and wake to a full battery. This reliability fits the way most people use their vehicles. Level 2 charging removes the worry of running low on range. It makes owning an electric vehicle far more convenient. This is why most homeowners invest in a level 2 charger.

Level 2 charging requires a proper installation that level 1 does not. Level 1 simply uses an existing outlet, while level 2 needs a dedicated 240 volt circuit. That circuit must be sized to the charger and installed to code. Our electricians install the dedicated circuit and the charger correctly. We confirm your panel can support the level 2 load before installing. We size everything to match your charger and your home’s capacity. This ensures fast, safe, reliable charging every night. For a level 2 charger installation, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Yes, a level 2 EV charger requires its own dedicated circuit. A dedicated circuit serves only the charger and nothing else. This is essential because the charger draws a heavy continuous load for hours. Sharing a circuit would overload it and trip the breaker constantly. The dedicated circuit ensures the charger receives the full power it needs. It also protects the rest of your home from the charger’s heavy demand. The National Electrical Code requires this dedicated circuit for a hardwired charger. This is a fundamental part of a safe EV charger installation.

The dedicated circuit for an EV charger has specific requirements. It runs at 240 volts, the same as a large appliance circuit. The breaker and conductors must be sized to the charger’s amperage rating. The circuit often requires a GFCI breaker for safety. The wiring runs from the panel directly to the charger location. Each of these details must match the charger and meet the code. Our electricians size and install the circuit precisely for your charger. This precision ensures safe, reliable charging without overloads.

Installing a dedicated EV charger circuit is a job for a licensed electrician. The heavy continuous load makes proper sizing essential for safety. A circuit that is undersized will overheat during long charging sessions. Our electricians calculate the correct circuit size for your specific charger. We confirm your panel can support the dedicated circuit before installing. We install the circuit and the charger to the National Electrical Code. We test everything before energizing the charger for the first time. For a properly installed dedicated EV charger circuit, contact Wallace Electric.

You may or may not need a panel or service upgrade for an EV charger. The answer depends on your panel’s available capacity and your home’s electrical load. An EV charger draws a significant continuous load that the panel must support. A home with spare capacity and an open slot may not need an upgrade. A home with a full panel or an undersized service likely will need one. A load calculation tells us exactly whether your service can handle the charger. This calculation adds the charger’s demand to your existing electrical load. The result determines if an upgrade is necessary.

Several factors influence whether an upgrade is needed. The size of your electrical service sets the ceiling on what you can add. Your existing appliances and their demand affect how much capacity remains. The amperage of the charger you choose adds to the total load. A home already near its capacity will likely need an upgrade. A home with plenty of headroom can often add a charger directly. Our electricians evaluate all of these factors with a load calculation. This ensures the charger runs safely without overloading your system.

If an upgrade is needed, we handle it as part of the charger project. A panel upgrade or subpanel may provide the capacity for the charger. A service upgrade increases your home’s total power if your service is undersized. We size the upgrade to support the charger and your home’s other needs. We explain your options honestly so you understand the scope and cost. We never recommend an upgrade that is not genuinely needed. We treat the charger and any upgrade as one connected project. To find out if you need an upgrade, contact Wallace Electric.

Most EV charger installations are completed in a few hours to a day. A straightforward installation with an available circuit and a short run goes quickly. A longer run from the panel to the charger takes more time. If a panel or service upgrade is needed, the project extends accordingly. The complexity of the wiring route affects the timeline. Running wire through finished walls takes longer than an open path. We give you a realistic time estimate before we begin the work. Our goal is to complete the installation efficiently and correctly.

A typical installation breaks down into clear steps. We confirm the panel capacity and plan the circuit and route. We run the dedicated circuit from the panel to the charger location. We mount the charger and either hardwire it or install the outlet. We connect everything, install the proper breaker, and test the charger. This process often takes just a few hours under good conditions. When an upgrade is needed, we factor in the additional time. Our electricians work efficiently while keeping every step to code.

Clear communication keeps the installation on schedule. We confirm the charger, the location, and the requirements before we begin. If we find a capacity issue, we explain it and adjust the plan with your approval. Surprises are rare when an experienced electrician evaluates the job first. Our technicians arrive on time and respect the schedule you set aside. We clean up thoroughly so your space looks untouched when we leave. We restore power and test the charger before we consider the job complete. For a clear timeline on your EV charger installation, contact Wallace Electric.

Both hardwired and plug in EV chargers are valid options, each with its own advantages. A hardwired charger connects directly to the dedicated circuit with no plug. A plug in charger connects to a special 240 volt outlet on the circuit. The right choice depends on your charger, your location, and your preferences. Some chargers are designed for one method, while others support both. Our electricians help you choose the method that fits your situation. Both methods, when installed correctly, provide safe and reliable charging. The decision comes down to a few practical considerations.

A hardwired charger offers some specific benefits. It is a clean, permanent installation with no plug to manage. Hardwired chargers are often used outdoors or for higher amperage units. They can be more weather resistant since there is no exposed outlet. The permanent connection is reliable and tidy. However, a hardwired charger is less convenient to remove or replace. This method suits homeowners who want a fixed, lasting installation. Our electricians install hardwired chargers securely to code.

A plug in charger offers convenience and flexibility. It can be unplugged and taken with you if you move. It is easier to replace or upgrade since it simply plugs in. The 240 volt outlet must be installed correctly and to code. A plug in setup often requires a GFCI breaker for safety. This method suits homeowners who value flexibility and easy replacement. Our electricians install the proper outlet and circuit for a plug in charger. To choose the right method for your home, contact Wallace Electric.

Yes, an EV charger can be installed outdoors when the right equipment is used. Many homeowners install chargers outdoors for driveways, carports, or detached garages. The key is using a charger rated for outdoor exposure. An outdoor rated charger withstands rain, heat, cold, and humidity. Installing an indoor charger outdoors would expose it to damage and create a hazard. The wiring and connections must also be rated and protected for outdoor use. Our electricians use the proper outdoor rated equipment for these installations. This ensures the charger stands up to the weather safely.

Outdoor installations involve some additional considerations. The charger must be mounted securely and protected from the elements. The wiring often runs in conduit rated for outdoor or underground use. A weatherproof outlet or hardwired connection keeps moisture out. The location should balance convenience with protection from the weather. Our electricians plan the installation to keep everything safe and durable. We route the wiring to protect it from damage and exposure. This careful approach ensures the outdoor charger lasts for years.

An outdoor EV charger installation is a job for a licensed electrician. The outdoor environment adds requirements that must be met for safety. The equipment, the wiring, and the connections all need proper ratings. Our electricians know the code requirements for outdoor installations. We use weather rated chargers, outlets, and conduit as needed. We confirm your panel can support the charger before installing. We test everything to ensure safe, reliable outdoor charging. For an outdoor EV charger installation, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Yes, installing an EV charger usually requires a permit in Texas jurisdictions. Cities around Burleson, including those in Tarrant and Johnson counties, enforce this requirement. A permit triggers an inspection that confirms the work meets the National Electrical Code. This process protects you, your home, and any future owners of the property. The charger involves a dedicated circuit that the inspection verifies. Skipping the permit can lead to fines and a requirement to redo the work. It can also create problems when you sell or insure your home. Wallace Electric handles the permitting process so you never have to navigate it alone.

The permit requirements can vary depending on the scope of the work. Adding a charger circuit alone differs from a charger plus a panel upgrade. A licensed electrician knows which rules apply to your specific project. We determine the permit requirements before we begin the work. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection on your behalf. This saves you time and removes the guesswork from the process. It also ensures the finished work carries proper documentation. That paperwork is valuable when you sell or insure your home.

Attempting an EV charger installation without a permit creates real risks. Unpermitted electrical work can complicate a home sale or an insurance claim. If the work fails a later inspection, you may have to redo it correctly. A charger circuit installed incorrectly is also dangerous, which is why inspection matters. The cost of a permit is minor compared to these potential consequences. Wallace Electric never cuts this corner, because your safety comes first. We manage the entire permitting and inspection process as part of our service. For a permitted EV charger installation, trust the licensed team at Wallace Electric.
