Professional Circuit Breaker Repair Services in Burleson

A breaker that trips constantly or refuses to reset is your electrical system asking for help. At Wallace Electric, our licensed technicians diagnose the true cause rather than simply swapping parts at random. We test the breaker, measure the load, and inspect the connections to find where the fault really lives. Sometimes the breaker itself has worn out, and sometimes the problem hides in the circuit it protects. Telling those two apart is the heart of an accurate repair, and guessing wastes both time and money. Our team checks the bus bar, the lugs, and the surrounding breakers for heat damage and corrosion. We confirm whether a tripping breaker is doing its job or failing to do it at all. A breaker that no longer trips during a fault is far more dangerous than one that trips too often. We restore proper protection by repairing connections or replacing failed devices with the correct listed breaker. Our background checked technicians work cleanly, explain the issue plainly, and back the repair with a five year parts and labor warranty available. Wallace Electric makes circuit breaker repair safe, honest, and built to last.

We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

Circuit Breaker Repair Service

A circuit breaker is built to protect your home, so when one begins to misbehave, it deserves immediate and serious attention from a qualified professional. A breaker that trips repeatedly, refuses to reset, or feels warm to the touch is clearly warning you that something is wrong inside your electrical system. Wallace Electric repairs breaker problems of every kind for homes and businesses throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we have served for years. The first and most important step in any repair is an accurate diagnosis of what is actually happening on the circuit. A breaker trips for many different reasons, and each underlying cause calls for its own distinct and specific solution. An overloaded circuit, a short circuit, a ground fault, a loose connection, or a worn out breaker can each produce the very same symptom. Our electricians test methodically to separate these causes rather than replacing the breaker and simply hoping the trouble disappears on its own. We measure the current the circuit draws, inspect the connections at the panel, and trace the wiring whenever the situation calls for it. That careful process reveals whether the real fix belongs at the breaker, inside the circuit, or somewhere deeper within the system. Skipping the diagnosis is exactly how a minor problem grows into an expensive and stressful emergency down the road.

The most common breaker complaint we hear is a breaker that keeps tripping without any obvious explanation. Tripping is not a malfunction in itself, because the breaker is specifically designed to cut power the moment something goes wrong. The real question every homeowner should ask is what condition is forcing the breaker to trip in the first place. An overloaded circuit, where far too many devices draw power at once, is a frequent and very fixable cause. A short circuit, where a hot wire touches a neutral or a ground, produces a sudden surge that trips the breaker almost instantly. A ground fault sends current racing down an unintended path and trips the breaker just as quickly as a short does. Each of these faults leaves behind clues that a trained electrician can read and follow straight back to the source. We isolate the affected circuit, test its components, and identify exactly what is drawing the breaker toward its limit. Once we know the true cause, the repair becomes clear and lasting instead of a temporary patch over a hidden problem. Resetting a breaker without ever finding the cause only resets the clock on the very same issue you started with.

Some breaker problems trace directly back to the breaker itself rather than to the circuit it protects. Breakers contain springs and moving contacts that naturally wear out after years of use and repeated tripping cycles. A breaker that trips below its rated value has very likely weakened internally and now responds far too easily to normal loads. A breaker that will not reset, even after the load has been fully removed, has probably failed and needs replacement. Heat is the great enemy inside any electrical panel, and a breaker that runs hot will degrade noticeably faster over time. Loose connections create resistance, resistance produces heat, and that heat slowly damages both the breaker and the bus bar behind it. We inspect each suspect breaker closely for scorch marks, melted plastic, and any other visible sign of internal failure. When a breaker has truly gone bad, we replace it with a device that is listed and properly rated for your panel. Compatibility matters greatly here, because the wrong breaker can leave a circuit unprotected or create a dangerous and loose fit. Replacing a worn breaker with the correct one restores reliable protection to that circuit right away and gives you genuine peace of mind.

Loose and corroded connections are a quiet but surprisingly serious source of recurring breaker trouble in many homes. A breaker connects to the panel bus bar, and the circuit conductor in turn connects directly to the breaker itself. If either of those connections loosens, electricity must jump a tiny gap, and that small arc generates a great deal of heat. Over time, that heat discolors the metal, melts nearby insulation, and can damage the breaker far beyond any reasonable repair. A loose connection often shows up as flickering lights, intermittent power, or a breaker that trips without any real overload present. Our electricians carefully inspect every connection in the affected area and torque each one to the manufacturer’s exact specification. We also examine the bus bar where the breaker seats, since damage in that spot can affect several breakers at once. A panel that reveals widespread heat damage may require more than a single repair to be made truly safe again. We always explain what we find in plain terms so you fully understand the real condition of your panel. Catching a loose connection early prevents a small and affordable repair from turning into a full and costly panel replacement.

Certain panels make breaker repair more complicated and sometimes point clearly toward replacement instead of an ongoing series of fixes. Some older panel brands are no longer manufactured at all, which makes finding compatible breakers genuinely difficult or even impossible. A handful of brands carry a documented history of breakers that fail to trip properly or connect poorly to the bus bar. When we encounter one of these problem panels, we explain the situation honestly and lay out all of your options clearly. Repairing a single breaker inside an unreliable panel may solve today’s problem while quietly leaving the larger danger fully in place. In these cases, a complete panel upgrade often makes far more sense than repeated repairs on aging and unsafe equipment. We never push an unnecessary upgrade on anyone, yet we also will not hide a genuine safety concern from a customer. Our job is to give you accurate, honest information so you can make the right decision for your home and family. We repair what is genuinely safe to repair and recommend replacement only when the situation truly demands that step. That kind of straightforward honesty is the foundation of the trust our customers across Burleson have placed in us for years.

Breaker problems sometimes signal a much larger issue that deserves a careful, close look at the entire electrical panel. A single failing breaker can reveal an overloaded panel, outdated wiring, or improper modifications left behind by past unqualified work. While we already have the panel open for a repair, we take the opportunity to inspect its overall condition as a complete system. We look closely for double tapped breakers, missing knockouts, corroded lugs, and any telltale signs of moisture intrusion inside the enclosure. We confirm that the panel is properly grounded and bonded, since this is absolutely fundamental to how every breaker protects you. We also check that the panel is not loaded beyond its safe rating, which is a surprisingly common and well hidden hazard. If we spot a concern of any kind, we explain it clearly and then let you decide exactly how you wish to proceed. This kind of thorough inspection often catches small problems long before they have a chance to grow into dangerous emergencies. Adding whole house surge protection at the panel is another valuable safeguard we are glad to discuss during the same visit. Treating the panel as one connected whole keeps every repair meaningful and effective rather than narrow and isolated.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your circuit breaker repair means choosing accuracy, honesty, and genuine care for the safety of your home. We are a family owned and operated company with deep and lasting roots in the Burleson community we are proud to serve. Every technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete and well deserved peace of mind. Our white glove service reflects the deep respect we hold for every single home and business we are invited to enter. Flexible financing options help you handle larger panel repairs comfortably without straining your household budget all at once. A five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the quality and durability of every repair we complete. We explain each finding in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and fully informed decision. For sudden breaker failures, our emergency electricians remain available around the clock to restore safe power to your home. When you need circuit breaker repair done right the very first time, our experienced team is always ready to help.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Circuit Breaker Repair in Burleson, TX

Repairing a circuit breaker means working inside an energized panel, which is among the most dangerous tasks in the trade. The main lugs in a panel often stay energized even when the main breaker is switched off. A licensed electrician understands this danger and follows the safety procedures that keep the work from turning deadly. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified and unsafe work. A licensed professional knows how to diagnose a breaker problem accurately instead of guessing at the cause. They can tell the difference between a faulty breaker and a faulty circuit, which leads to the correct repair. They recognize when a panel is obsolete or overloaded and cannot be safely repaired with a simple swap. They follow the National Electrical Code along with the local amendments enforced around Burleson. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you financially if anything ever goes wrong. Unlicensed work may save a little money today and leave a circuit dangerously unprotected tomorrow. A breaker repaired incorrectly can fail to trip during a fault and allow a fire to start. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every job, so your panel is always in capable hands.

Commonly Asked Circuit Breaker Repair Questions

Circuit breaker repair raises several practical questions about tripping, safety, and when a breaker needs replacement. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

A breaker that keeps tripping is responding to a real problem on the circuit it protects. The most common cause is an overloaded circuit, where too many devices draw power at the same time. When the total current exceeds the breaker’s rating, the breaker trips to prevent the wire from overheating. A short circuit is another frequent cause, occurring when a hot wire contacts a neutral or ground wire. This creates a sudden surge of current that trips the breaker almost instantly. A ground fault sends current down an unintended path and trips the breaker just as fast. Each of these conditions is the breaker doing exactly what it was designed to do. The challenge is identifying which condition is causing your particular breaker to trip.

Sometimes the cause lies in the breaker itself rather than the circuit. A breaker that has weakened with age may trip below its rated value for no real reason. A loose connection at the breaker or the bus bar generates heat and can cause nuisance tripping. Older breakers and certain panel brands are more prone to this kind of internal failure. A breaker that trips the moment you reset it points to a persistent fault on the circuit. A breaker that trips only under heavy use usually points to an overload condition instead. Reading these patterns helps an electrician narrow down the source of the problem. This is why accurate diagnosis matters far more than simply resetting the breaker.

Our electricians approach a tripping breaker methodically rather than by guesswork. We measure the current the circuit draws and compare it to the breaker rating. We inspect the connections for heat, corrosion, and looseness that could cause false trips. We isolate the circuit to determine whether the fault lies in the wiring, a device, or the breaker. Once we find the true cause, we repair it so the tripping stops for good. We then verify the fix with live readings before we restore normal service. This thorough process saves you from repeated trips and the frustration they bring. If your breaker keeps tripping, call Wallace Electric for an accurate diagnosis.

A tripped breaker is not always a broken breaker, so the first step is understanding why it tripped. In many cases, the breaker is healthy and simply responding to an overload or fault on the circuit. Once the underlying problem is corrected, the breaker resets and functions normally again. In these situations, no repair to the breaker itself is needed at all. The real fix lies in the circuit, the wiring, or the load that caused the trip. An electrician identifies and resolves that root cause so the breaker can do its job. This is the most common outcome we see during a breaker service call. A healthy breaker that trips is performing exactly as designed.

When the breaker itself has failed, replacement is the correct and safe path forward. Breakers contain springs and contacts that wear out after years of use and repeated tripping. A breaker that will not reset, trips below its rating, or shows heat damage has likely reached the end of its life. There is no reliable way to rebuild the internal mechanism of a worn breaker. Attempting to repair the device itself would compromise the safety it is meant to provide. In these cases, we install a new breaker that is listed and rated for your panel. The replacement restores proper protection to the circuit immediately. Using the correct compatible breaker is essential for a safe and lasting result.

Determining whether to repair the circuit or replace the breaker requires professional testing. Our electricians measure the breaker’s behavior, inspect its connections, and evaluate the circuit it serves. We confirm whether the breaker still trips correctly at its rated value. We check the connections for heat damage that may have weakened the device. If the circuit is at fault, we repair the wiring or address the overload. If the breaker is at fault, we replace it with the correct listed device. This accurate approach ensures you pay only for the work your situation truly needs. For a clear answer on repair versus replacement, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

The cost of circuit breaker repair depends on what is actually causing the problem. A simple fix, such as tightening a loose connection, costs far less than a complex circuit repair. Replacing a failed breaker adds the cost of the device, which varies by type and panel compatibility. A basic single pole breaker is inexpensive, while GFCI, AFCI, and dual function breakers cost more. If the fault lies in the circuit wiring, the repair scope and cost grow accordingly. Tracing a hidden fault through walls takes more time than a quick connection repair at the panel. The condition of your panel can also influence the final price of the work. Because every situation differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any repair begins.

The diagnosis is a key part of the repair and the cost. Finding the true cause of a breaker problem takes skill, proper tools, and careful testing. An accurate diagnosis prevents wasted money on parts that were never the real issue. We measure the load, inspect the connections, and trace the circuit to pinpoint the fault. This upfront work ensures the repair actually solves the problem the first time. Skipping diagnosis to save a few dollars often leads to repeat visits and higher overall cost. We believe a fair price reflects an accurate diagnosis and a lasting repair. Financing options are available for larger panel work that goes beyond a simple breaker repair.

The most reliable way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate the problem. We open the panel, test the breaker, and identify exactly what is causing the issue. We then explain whether the fix is a connection repair, a breaker replacement, or a circuit repair. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate circuit breaker repair quote.

Resetting a tripped breaker is usually safe when you do it once and the breaker holds. A breaker trips to protect the circuit, so a single trip after a temporary overload is normal. If you unplug a few devices and the breaker resets and stays on, the issue was likely a simple overload. In that case, resetting the breaker is a reasonable and safe response. The key is paying attention to whether the breaker holds or trips again right away. A breaker that resets and continues working has done its job and needs no further concern. This is the most common and harmless scenario homeowners encounter. A one time trip after running too many appliances is rarely cause for alarm.

Repeatedly resetting a breaker that keeps tripping is a different and riskier matter. A breaker that trips again immediately is telling you that a fault still exists on the circuit. Forcing it back on without addressing the cause can allow dangerous current to keep flowing. That repeated stress generates heat in the wiring and can damage the breaker over time. A short circuit or ground fault behind the wall will not fix itself through repeated resets. Continuing to reset such a breaker risks overheating, equipment damage, and even fire. If a breaker trips more than once or twice, stop and have it inspected. The breaker is warning you of a problem that needs professional attention.

You should never bypass, jump, or upsize a breaker to stop it from tripping. Replacing a breaker with a larger one without upsizing the wire is extremely dangerous. The wire will overheat before the oversized breaker ever trips, creating a serious fire hazard. A breaker that feels hot, smells like burning, or shows scorch marks should not be reset at all. In those cases, leave the breaker off and call a licensed electrician right away. Our team can diagnose why the breaker trips and correct the underlying cause safely. We restore proper protection so you can use the circuit without worry. If your breaker keeps tripping, call Wallace Electric instead of resetting it again.

Circuit breakers wear out over time, and several factors speed up that process. Repeated tripping puts stress on the internal mechanism with every cycle. The springs and contacts inside a breaker fatigue after years of use and many trips. Heat is the greatest enemy, since high temperatures degrade the components inside the device. A breaker that regularly carries a heavy load near its rating ages faster than a lightly used one. Loose connections create resistance and heat, which damages the breaker from the outside in. Moisture and corrosion attack the metal contacts and weaken the connection over time. All of these conditions gradually push a breaker toward failure.

Some breaker failures trace back to the original installation or the panel itself. A breaker that was never fully tightened to the bus bar runs hot from the very start. An incompatible breaker forced into the wrong panel may never seat properly. Certain older panel brands have a known history of breakers that fail prematurely. Power surges from storms or grid events can also stress and weaken a breaker. A nearby fault that the breaker had to interrupt can damage it internally. Each of these events shortens the life the breaker would otherwise have. This is why proper installation and a compatible panel matter so much for longevity.

A failing breaker usually shows warning signs before it stops working entirely. It may trip below its rated value, refuse to reset, or feel hot to the touch. Scorch marks, a burning smell, or flickering lights all point to a breaker in decline. Recognizing these signs early lets you replace the breaker before it fails completely. A breaker that no longer trips during a fault is the most dangerous failure of all. Our electricians inspect for these signs and test the breaker to confirm its condition. When a breaker has gone bad, we replace it with the correct listed device. If you notice any warning signs, call Wallace Electric for an inspection.

Telling repair from replacement starts with understanding what the breaker is actually doing. If the breaker trips but resets and holds once the load is reduced, it is likely healthy. In that case, the real work is correcting the overload or fault on the circuit, not the breaker. If the breaker trips below its rating or refuses to reset at all, the device itself may be failing. A breaker that feels hot, smells of burning, or shows scorch marks is a strong candidate for replacement. Flickering or intermittent power on the circuit can point to either a loose connection or a worn breaker. The pattern of the symptoms tells an experienced electrician a great deal. Reading those patterns correctly is the first step toward the right decision.

Connection issues often allow a repair rather than a full replacement. A breaker that runs warm because of a loose lug may work fine once the connection is tightened. Cleaning corrosion and re torquing the connection can restore proper operation in many cases. However, if the heat has already damaged the breaker internally, replacement becomes necessary. The bus bar itself can also suffer damage that affects how the breaker seats. We inspect all of these contact points before deciding the best course of action. Sometimes a simple connection repair solves the problem completely. Other times the damage has progressed too far for a repair to be safe.

Professional testing removes the guesswork from this decision entirely. Our electricians measure the breaker’s behavior under load and check whether it trips at the correct value. We inspect the connections, the bus bar, and the breaker housing for heat and damage. We compare what we find against the breaker’s rating and its physical condition. From there, we recommend either a targeted repair or a proper replacement. We explain our reasoning so you understand exactly why we suggest one path over the other. This honest approach ensures you get the right fix without paying for unnecessary work. For a clear answer on repair versus replacement, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Repairing a circuit breaker is not a recommended do it yourself project for most homeowners. The work takes place inside an energized panel, where exposed parts can carry lethal voltage. The main lugs often stay energized even when the main breaker is switched off. A simple mistake in that environment can cause severe injury or death. Diagnosing a breaker problem also requires knowledge and tools that most homeowners do not have. Telling a bad breaker from a bad circuit is not obvious without proper testing. A wrong diagnosis can leave a real hazard in place while appearing to fix the symptom. The risks of this work far outweigh any savings from skipping a professional.

Licensed electricians train for years to work safely and accurately inside electrical panels. They know how to de energize a circuit, verify it is dead, and follow safe work practices. They can measure current, inspect connections, and trace faults with the right equipment. They understand which breakers are compatible with your specific panel. They recognize when a panel is obsolete or overloaded and cannot accept a simple fix. These professional judgments protect your home and the people who live inside it. A homeowner working alone often lacks both the tools and the experience to do this safely. The margin for error in a live panel is dangerously thin.

There are minor electrical tasks a confident homeowner can handle, but breaker repair is not among them. Resetting a tripped breaker once is fine, but diagnosing and repairing a failing one is professional work. Installing the wrong breaker or making a loose connection creates a genuine fire hazard. Wallace Electric handles the entire process safely, from diagnosis to repair to final testing. Our background checked technicians complete the work cleanly and fully to code. You gain a safe repair backed by a five year parts and labor warranty. Save yourself the risk and let a licensed electrician do the job right. For safe breaker repair, call the team at Wallace Electric.

A breaker that will not reset is sending a clear signal that something needs attention. First, make sure you are resetting it correctly by pushing it fully to the off position before switching it back on. Many breakers must be moved firmly past the tripped middle position to reset properly. If the breaker still will not hold, the circuit likely has a fault that keeps tripping it. A short circuit, a ground fault, or a heavy overload can all prevent a breaker from resetting. Unplugging devices on the circuit can help determine whether an overload is the cause. If the breaker resets after you reduce the load, the issue was simple overloading. If it still will not hold with nothing connected, the problem runs deeper.

A breaker that refuses to reset with the circuit cleared often points to a wiring fault or a failed breaker. A short circuit behind the wall sends a surge that trips the breaker the instant it tries to reset. A ground fault does the same thing through a different unintended current path. The breaker itself may also have failed internally and lost the ability to hold. Telling these causes apart requires testing that a homeowner cannot safely perform. Continuing to force the breaker creates heat and risk with each attempt. At this point, the safe move is to leave the breaker off and call a professional. The breaker is protecting you by refusing to restore a faulted circuit.

Our electricians diagnose a stubborn breaker by testing both the breaker and the circuit it serves. We check whether the breaker holds when isolated from the circuit. We inspect the wiring for shorts, ground faults, and damaged connections. We measure the load to rule out a simple overload condition. Once we find the cause, we repair the fault or replace the breaker as needed. We verify the fix with live readings before we restore service to the circuit. This thorough approach ensures the breaker holds reliably once the work is done. If your breaker will not reset, call Wallace Electric for a safe diagnosis.
