Professional Garage Wiring Services in Burleson
A garage can be so much more than just a place to park your car when it has the right electrical wiring behind the walls. At Wallace Electric, our licensed technicians wire garages of every kind for workshops, home gyms, storage areas, hobby spaces, and far more. Many older garages were built with only a single light and one lonely outlet, which severely limits how you can actually use the space. To fix that, we add plenty of well placed outlets, install bright modern lighting, and run dedicated circuits for the specific equipment you want to power. A properly wired garage can comfortably run heavy power tools, large appliances, and even an EV charger all without constantly tripping breakers. Before we begin, our team takes the time to plan the entire wiring layout around how you genuinely use and move through the space. Because garages can be damp environments, we install GFCI protected outlets to keep you safe near any moisture or concrete floors. We carefully size every single circuit to match its load and install everything fully to the National Electrical Code. For a garage with significant electrical demands, we can add a dedicated subpanel that provides all the capacity and circuit space you need. Our background checked and drug tested technicians arrive on time, work cleanly, and explain every step of the project in plain language. With a five year parts and labor warranty available, your new garage wiring is fully backed for many years to come. Wallace Electric turns an underused, dark garage into a safe, bright, and genuinely capable extension of your home.

Seth did a great job setting my new pendant Lights. Very professional and reasonably priced.
Thank you Seth for your professionalism and explaining the work to be done in detail. Definitely recommend their small business for all electrical needs.
We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!
Wallace Electric replaced some lighting fixtures as well as hung new ones for me at a reasonable price. They were able to come out the day after our estimate and even being behind schedule, were still able to finish the job. Everything looks exactly as I hoped. Highly recommend this family business.
These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.
Seth did an awesome job installing two ceiling fans. He did a great job of answering other questions I asked him. He was very friendly and respectful. He wired a Blink doorbell for free. Other companies where charging me $50 to connect two wires. I definitely would recommend using them and I will use them again if I need additional service.
I cannot say enough how great Wallace electric is, they came very fast at 10pm at night, we had an emergency and lost power in all outlets and lights. They had everything up and running in no time. Great attitudes, very smart, highly knowledgeable, nice guys. I will be using them in the future 110%, this is the type of company that is a gem and I very highly recommend them. They let u know all pricing up front, no hidden fees, answered all my questions, gave quotes for future projects. If you are needing an electrician in down, then call Wallace electric, I know I will.
I needed an outlet installed in my garage for my fridge and they installed it for me. Very fast and professional.
I had a fan transferred from master bedroom to game room and a new fan placed in the master bedroom. He was in and out like a breeze. Answered all questions and explained everything clearly. The best part is they are a local family owned business in my area.
Seth replaced 5 outlets, a few breaker switches, and fixed some broken switches and added grounding to them. He was very professional, explained what he was doing, and did everything up to code. We also got a promotional discount and a 2-year warranty. Overall a very pleasant experience and I'll be using the company if anything should happen in the future.
They rewired my house, and the customer service was exceptional and they accommodated all my needs, and answered all my questions. And did great work.
trustworthy! great work! They replaced my electrical panel and switches! they were very very professional would recommend!
Seth did a great job fixing my wiring in our breaker box and upgrading our ceiling fan. Fast worker and super friendly!
I was having some built in shelves installed that required an outlet. Caleb came recommended from my installer. Caleb set up an appointment and came out that next week. Caleb and his partner came on time and got right to work. They were absolutely great to work with. They were professional and treated my home with respect. The outlet was installed to the exact specifications that was needed by the installer. After they were done they made sure everything was I working order and then cleaned up. I was highly impressed. I will definitely be using his services again and will recommend him to my friends and family.

Garage Wiring Service
A garage is genuinely one of the most useful spaces in any home, yet it very often lacks the wiring needed to reach its full potential. Many garages were originally built with only the most minimal electrical service, perhaps just a single light and one outlet. Wallace Electric provides professional garage wiring for homes of all kinds throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we serve. No matter if you use your garage as a busy workshop, a home gym, a storage space, or simply a place to park, proper wiring makes it far more functional. We add plenty of convenient outlets, install bright lighting, and run dedicated circuits for the equipment you actually want to use. A well wired garage can power tools, appliances, an EV charger, and much more without constantly tripping breakers. Our licensed electricians always plan the wiring carefully around how you actually use the space day to day. They carefully size every single circuit correctly and install everything fully to the National Electrical Code. Garages present unique conditions, such as exposure to dust, moisture, and large temperature swings, that all affect the wiring. Proper garage wiring turns an underused, dark space into a safe, bright, and capable extension of your home.
Garages serve many very different purposes, and the right wiring depends entirely on how you actually plan to use the space. A serious home workshop needs plenty of well placed outlets and dedicated circuits for the power tools that draw heavy loads. A home gym needs convenient outlets for all the equipment and good bright lighting to make every workout safe. A garage used to park an electric vehicle needs a dedicated 240 volt circuit for a proper EV charger. A garage that doubles as a laundry area needs proper dedicated circuits for both a washer and a dryer. A simple storage garage may need only good overhead lighting and a few convenient outlets. A dedicated hobby space may need specialized circuits for very specific equipment and tools. Our electricians always talk with you about your plans before designing any of the wiring. We then build out a complete layout that supports your current needs and leaves plenty of room to grow later. This tailored and personal approach ensures your garage wiring fits the way you actually live and work in the space.
The placement of every fire alarm device is critical to how well the entire system protects your home. Smoke detectors belong on every single level of the home, including the basement and right near the attic access. A working detector belongs inside every bedroom and just outside each sleeping area out in the hallway. Because smoke naturally rises, detectors are mounted on the ceiling or high up on the wall. Smoke detectors should be kept away from kitchens and bathrooms, where cooking smoke and steam can cause false alarms. Heat detectors are far better suited to kitchens, garages, and other areas that tend to be prone to false smoke alarms. Carbon monoxide detectors belong near every sleeping area and on each and every level of the home for full protection. Our electricians follow both the code and the manufacturer’s guidelines to place every single device correctly. The correct placement of every device ensures the system detects a fire as early as humanly possible. This careful, code based planning is a large part of what makes a professional installation well worth the investment.
Interconnection is genuinely one of the most important features of any modern fire alarm system. In a fully interconnected system, the moment one detector senses a fire, every alarm in the home sounds at once. This means a fire starting down in the basement will wake someone sleeping upstairs almost immediately. Without interconnection, a sleeping person might never even hear a single alarm sounding on the far side of the house. This one single feature can make the entire difference between escaping safely and being tragically trapped inside. Hardwired systems are fully interconnected through the dedicated wiring our electricians carefully install throughout the home. Some modern wireless systems can also fully interconnect, communicating between the detectors without any physical wires at all. Our electricians help you choose exactly the right interconnected system for your particular home. We install all of the wiring and the devices so that the entire system works together as one. This unified, whole home protection is exactly what a modern fire alarm system is meant to provide.
Replacing or upgrading an older fire alarm system is a genuinely worthwhile safety improvement for almost any home. Smoke detectors have a genuinely limited lifespan and gradually lose sensitivity as they age. Most smoke detectors should be replaced after about ten years of service, even if they still appear to work just fine. An older system may lack proper interconnection entirely, which can leave real and dangerous gaps in your protection. Older homes may have far too few detectors, or detectors placed in the wrong locations. Battery only detectors are very easy to forget about entirely and may fail silently when a single battery dies. Upgrading to a hardwired, fully interconnected system with battery backup is a truly major safety improvement. Our experienced electricians carefully assess your current system and then recommend the right upgrades to you honestly. We then bring your home’s protection fully up to current code and the latest modern fire safety standards. This kind of upgrade is easily one of the most valuable safety investments you can make for your family.
A fire alarm system is ultimately only as good as its installation and its ongoing maintenance. A poorly installed system can fail completely at the exact moment you need it most of all. Our electricians install every system correctly, with proper wiring, careful placement, and full interconnection. We then test the entire system thoroughly to confirm that every detector and every alarm works exactly as designed. We also clearly explain how to maintain the system, including testing it regularly and replacing the batteries right on time. We carefully follow the National Electrical Code and all of the fire safety standards that apply to your home. A system that is installed to these high standards gives you reliable, lasting protection you can truly count on. We treat all fire alarm work with the seriousness it genuinely deserves, since lives can depend on it. This deep commitment to always doing the job right is truly the foundation of our reputation in the community. When it comes to fire safety, there is simply no room at all for shortcuts or guesswork.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Garage Wiring in Burleson, TX
Garage wiring involves conditions and requirements that call for a licensed electrician. A licensed professional understands the GFCI protection and code requirements for garages. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed electrician sizes every circuit correctly for the tools and equipment you use. They know the moisture and dust conditions that garage wiring must withstand. They install GFCI protection where the code requires it for safety. They determine when a subpanel or service upgrade is needed for the added load. They pull the permits and schedule the inspections that the work requires. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. Improper garage wiring can overload circuits, overheat, or create a shock hazard. Unlicensed work may save money today and create a real danger tomorrow. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every garage wiring job, so the work is always done right.
24/7 EMERGENCY SUPPORT
Electrical problems can happen without warning and often require immediate attention to keep your home safe. Commonly Asked Garage Wiring Questions
Garage wiring raises several practical questions about outlets, circuits, lighting, and capacity. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.
The cost to wire a garage depends on several factors unique to your space. The number of outlets and circuits you need is a major factor. The amount and type of lighting you want affects the total cost. Adding dedicated circuits for heavy tools or an EV charger increases the scope. Whether the garage is attached or detached affects the wiring run and cost. A detached garage may need a subpanel and a feeder, which adds to the project. The condition and capacity of your main panel also play a role. Because every garage differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins.
Several elements make up the total cost of garage wiring. The outlets, fixtures, wiring, and materials are part of the price. The labor reflects the time and skill required for the installation. Running new circuits and a subpanel adds to the scope and cost. Bringing the garage up to current code, including GFCI protection, is part of the work. If a service upgrade is needed for capacity, that affects the total. We assess all of these factors before quoting so there are no surprises. Financing options are available to make a larger garage project easier on your budget.
The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your garage. We discuss how you plan to use the space and what you need. We assess your panel capacity and the wiring the project requires. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate garage wiring quote.
The right number of garage outlets depends on how you use the space. A garage used mainly for parking and storage needs fewer outlets. A garage used as a workshop needs many more outlets for tools. As a general guideline, outlets spaced along the walls make a workshop far more usable. Outlets at workbench height keep tools and cords convenient and off the floor. A garage often benefits from dedicated circuits for heavy tools in addition to general outlets. The goal is to have power where you need it without relying on extension cords. More outlets in the right places make the garage safer and more functional.
The code provides minimum requirements for garage outlets. Most garages require at least one outlet, and the code has expanded these requirements over time. New construction and major work must meet the current outlet requirements. The code also requires GFCI protection for garage outlets due to moisture. However, the minimum is rarely enough for a garage used as a workshop. We recommend planning outlets around your actual needs rather than just the minimum. This ensures the garage works the way you want it to. Our electricians help you plan the right number and placement.
Our electricians design the outlet layout around how you use the garage. We discuss your tools, equipment, and workflow before planning. We place outlets where you need them, including at workbench height. We add dedicated circuits for heavy tools that need their own power. We install GFCI protection to meet the code and keep you safe. We size the circuits to handle everything without tripping breakers. This tailored approach gives you a garage that truly works for you. For the right outlet layout, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
Yes, garage outlets are required to be GFCI protected by code. A GFCI, or ground fault circuit interrupter, protects against electric shock. It senses tiny current leaks and cuts power in a fraction of a second. This protection matters in garages because they can be damp environments. Moisture, concrete floors, and outdoor access all increase the shock risk. The code requires GFCI protection for garage outlets to address this risk. This requirement is a genuine safety measure, not just a formality. Our electricians install GFCI protection to keep you safe.
GFCI protection can be provided in a couple of ways. A GFCI outlet protects itself and any outlets downstream on the circuit. A GFCI breaker in the panel protects the entire circuit. Either method satisfies the code requirement for garage outlets. The right choice depends on the layout and your preferences. Our electricians install the method that fits your garage best. We confirm the protection works correctly before we finish. This ensures every garage outlet meets the safety requirement.
GFCI protection is especially important given how garages are used. People often use power tools and equipment in garages. Damp conditions and concrete floors increase the danger of a shock. A GFCI cuts power before a shock can cause serious harm. This protection has prevented countless injuries over the years. Our electricians ensure your garage outlets are properly GFCI protected. We install and test the protection to confirm it works. For safe, code compliant garage outlets, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
Heavy garage power tools often need a dedicated circuit to run safely. Tools like table saws, air compressors, and welders draw a lot of current. A dedicated circuit serves only that tool and nothing else. This ensures the tool gets the full power it needs without competing. Sharing a circuit with other tools or lights leads to tripped breakers. A dedicated circuit prevents that frustration and runs the tool reliably. The heavier the tool, the more important a dedicated circuit becomes. Our electricians size dedicated circuits to match your specific tools.
Whether a tool needs a dedicated circuit depends on its power draw. Light hand tools can usually share a general circuit without trouble. Heavy stationary tools almost always benefit from their own circuit. Some large tools require a 240 volt dedicated circuit, like a large appliance. The tool’s specifications tell us the circuit it requires. Our electricians read those specifications and size the circuit correctly. We never undersize a circuit, since that causes overheating and tripping. This ensures your tools run safely and reliably every time.
Planning dedicated circuits is part of designing good garage wiring. We discuss the tools you use and plan to add. We size and place dedicated circuits where your heavy tools will be. We confirm your panel can support the added circuits with a load calculation. If more capacity is needed, we recommend a subpanel or upgrade. We install everything to code so your tools run safely. This planning ensures your workshop has the power it needs. For dedicated circuits for your garage tools, contact Wallace Electric.
A detached garage often benefits from its own subpanel, though it is not always required. A subpanel provides circuit space and local control right in the garage. For a garage with significant electrical needs, a subpanel is often the best approach. It lets you run one feeder to the garage rather than many separate circuits. The breakers are then located in the garage for convenience. This is cleaner and more practical than long runs from the main panel. A detached garage with a workshop or heavy equipment is a strong candidate. The right approach depends on the garage’s electrical needs.
A subpanel for a detached garage involves specific requirements. The feeder usually runs underground in conduit rated for that use. The subpanel needs its own grounding electrode, such as a ground rod. The neutral and ground must be kept separate in the subpanel. These requirements exist to keep the detached structure safe. Our electricians understand and follow all of these requirements. This ensures the garage is powered safely and to code. The subpanel then provides reliable, convenient power in the garage.
Our electricians help you decide if a subpanel is right for your garage. We assess your garage’s electrical needs and your main panel capacity. We perform a load calculation to confirm the main panel can support it. We then size the feeder and subpanel for your garage’s load. We install the feeder, the grounding, and the subpanel to code. We test everything before energizing the subpanel. This gives your detached garage safe, reliable, convenient power. For a detached garage subpanel, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
LED lighting is the best choice for most garages today. LED fixtures provide bright, even light that makes the space usable. They use far less energy than older lighting types. They also last much longer, reducing the need for bulb changes. Bright LED lighting is especially valuable for a workshop or work area. Good lighting improves safety when using tools and working on projects. LED lighting transforms a dark, dim garage into a well lit space. This is why we recommend LED fixtures for garage lighting.
The best lighting layout depends on how you use the garage. Overhead lighting provides general illumination across the whole space. Task lighting over a workbench focuses light where you work. A combination of both gives you bright, flexible lighting. Lighting controls add convenience and save energy. Motion sensors turn lights on automatically when you enter. Switches at each entrance make the lighting easy to control. Our electricians design a layout that fits how you use the space.
Good garage lighting is about more than just brightness. The placement, the fixtures, and the controls all matter. We design lighting that eliminates dark corners and shadows. We place task lighting where you need focused light. We add controls that make the lighting convenient and efficient. We install energy efficient LED fixtures that last for years. This thoughtful approach gives you a bright, functional garage. For the best garage lighting, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
Most garage wiring work requires a permit in Texas jurisdictions. Cities around Burleson, including those in Tarrant and Johnson counties, enforce this requirement. A permit triggers an inspection that confirms the work meets the National Electrical Code. This process protects you, your home, and any future owners of the property. Adding circuits, outlets, and lighting typically requires a permit. A subpanel for a detached garage also requires a permit. The permit and inspection are important safeguards for this work. Wallace Electric handles the permitting process so you never have to navigate it alone.
The permit requirements can vary depending on the scope of the work. A small addition of outlets may differ from a full garage wiring project. A subpanel installation has its own requirements to meet. A licensed electrician knows which rules apply to your project. We determine the permit requirements before we begin the work. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection on your behalf. This saves you time and ensures the work is documented. That documentation is valuable when you sell or insure your home.
Attempting garage wiring without a permit creates real risks. Unpermitted electrical work can complicate a home sale or an insurance claim. If the work fails a later inspection, you may have to redo it. Garage wiring done incorrectly is also dangerous, which is why inspection matters. The cost of a permit is minor compared to these consequences. Wallace Electric never cuts this corner, because your safety comes first. We manage the entire permitting and inspection process as part of our service. For permitted garage wiring done right, trust the licensed team at Wallace Electric.
Yes, a garage is the ideal place to add an EV charger. A level two charger needs a dedicated 240 volt circuit in the garage. The charger draws a heavy continuous load while your vehicle charges. We size the dedicated circuit and breaker to match your specific charger. We confirm your panel can support the charger before installing. If your panel lacks capacity, we discuss an upgrade or subpanel. We install the charger and circuit to the National Electrical Code. This gives you convenient home charging right in your garage.
Adding an EV charger fits naturally into a garage wiring project. If we are already wiring your garage, adding the charger circuit is efficient. We plan the charger location near where you park your vehicle. We run the dedicated circuit and mount the charger securely. We install the proper breaker, often a GFCI type, as required. We coordinate the charger with any other garage circuits we install. This integrated approach makes the most of the wiring work. The result is a garage ready for your electric vehicle.
Our electricians handle the EV charger as part of your garage wiring. We perform a load calculation to confirm your capacity. We size and install the dedicated circuit for the charger. We mount the charger and connect it correctly to code. We pull the permits and handle the inspections the work requires. We test the charger to confirm safe, reliable operation. This gives you convenient, safe home charging in your garage. To add an EV charger to your garage, contact Wallace Electric.
