We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

I was having some built in shelves installed that required an outlet. Caleb came recommended from my installer. Caleb set up an appointment and came out that next week. Caleb and his partner came on time and got right to work. They were absolutely great to work with. They were professional and treated my home with respect. The outlet was installed to the exact specifications that was needed by the installer. After they were done they made sure everything was I working order and then cleaned up. I was highly impressed. I will definitely be using his services again and will recommend him to my friends and family.

Fire Alarm Installation Service

A fire alarm system is genuinely one of the most important safety investments you can make for your home or business. Its single most important job is to detect a fire early and warn everyone inside in time to escape the building safely. Wallace Electric installs reliable fire alarm systems for homes and businesses of all sizes throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we serve. A properly installed system gives you the precious extra minutes that can make all the difference between a safe escape and a real tragedy. Modern fire alarms detect smoke, heat, and sometimes carbon monoxide, alerting you to the danger long before it ever becomes overwhelming. Our licensed electricians install fully interconnected systems in which every alarm sounds together the very moment any one of them detects a threat. This interconnection is absolutely critical, since a fire in any one part of the home must wake everyone, everywhere, all at once. We install hardwired systems with reliable battery backup, so your protection continues even during a power outage. Every single installation follows the National Electrical Code and all of the relevant fire safety standards. A professionally installed fire alarm system protects what matters the very most of all, which is the people inside your home.

Understanding the different components of a complete fire alarm system helps explain why professional installation matters so much. Smoke detectors are by far the most common component of all, sensing the smoke that so often precedes any visible flames. Heat detectors respond to rapidly rising temperatures and work especially well in areas like kitchens, garages, and hot attics. Carbon monoxide detectors sense this invisible and odorless gas that can be deadly without any warning at all. In a complete, well designed system, all of these detectors are interconnected so they all sound together at once. A central control panel may tie the entire fire alarm system together in larger homes and commercial buildings. Hardwired systems draw their power directly from your electrical system, with a battery backup ready for any outages. This combination of reliable hardwired power and battery backup ensures the system works exactly when you need it most. Our electricians install each and every component in exactly the right location throughout the home for maximum protection. Proper placement and full interconnection together are exactly what make a fire alarm system truly effective when it counts most.

The placement of every fire alarm device is critical to how well the entire system protects your home. Smoke detectors belong on every single level of the home, including the basement and right near the attic access. A working detector belongs inside every bedroom and just outside each sleeping area out in the hallway. Because smoke naturally rises, detectors are mounted on the ceiling or high up on the wall. Smoke detectors should be kept away from kitchens and bathrooms, where cooking smoke and steam can cause false alarms. Heat detectors are far better suited to kitchens, garages, and other areas that tend to be prone to false smoke alarms. Carbon monoxide detectors belong near every sleeping area and on each and every level of the home for full protection. Our electricians follow both the code and the manufacturer’s guidelines to place every single device correctly. The correct placement of every device ensures the system detects a fire as early as humanly possible. This careful, code based planning is a large part of what makes a professional installation well worth the investment.

Interconnection is genuinely one of the most important features of any modern fire alarm system. In a fully interconnected system, the moment one detector senses a fire, every alarm in the home sounds at once. This means a fire starting down in the basement will wake someone sleeping upstairs almost immediately. Without interconnection, a sleeping person might never even hear a single alarm sounding on the far side of the house. This one single feature can make the entire difference between escaping safely and being tragically trapped inside. Hardwired systems are fully interconnected through the dedicated wiring our electricians carefully install throughout the home. Some modern wireless systems can also fully interconnect, communicating between the detectors without any physical wires at all. Our electricians help you choose exactly the right interconnected system for your particular home. We install all of the wiring and the devices so that the entire system works together as one. This unified, whole home protection is exactly what a modern fire alarm system is meant to provide.

Replacing or upgrading an older fire alarm system is a genuinely worthwhile safety improvement for almost any home. Smoke detectors have a genuinely limited lifespan and gradually lose sensitivity as they age. Most smoke detectors should be replaced after about ten years of service, even if they still appear to work just fine. An older system may lack proper interconnection entirely, which can leave real and dangerous gaps in your protection. Older homes may have far too few detectors, or detectors placed in the wrong locations. Battery only detectors are very easy to forget about entirely and may fail silently when a single battery dies. Upgrading to a hardwired, fully interconnected system with battery backup is a truly major safety improvement. Our experienced electricians carefully assess your current system and then recommend the right upgrades to you honestly. We then bring your home’s protection fully up to current code and the latest modern fire safety standards. This kind of upgrade is easily one of the most valuable safety investments you can make for your family.

A fire alarm system is ultimately only as good as its installation and its ongoing maintenance. A poorly installed system can fail completely at the exact moment you need it most of all. Our electricians install every system correctly, with proper wiring, careful placement, and full interconnection. We then test the entire system thoroughly to confirm that every detector and every alarm works exactly as designed. We also clearly explain how to maintain the system, including testing it regularly and replacing the batteries right on time. We carefully follow the National Electrical Code and all of the fire safety standards that apply to your home. A system that is installed to these high standards gives you reliable, lasting protection you can truly count on. We treat all fire alarm work with the seriousness it genuinely deserves, since lives can depend on it. This deep commitment to always doing the job right is truly the foundation of our reputation in the community. When it comes to fire safety, there is simply no room at all for shortcuts or guesswork.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your fire alarm installation means choosing real safety, proven expertise, and genuine care. We are a proudly family owned and operated company with deep roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every single technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly, carefully respect your home, and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish. Our white glove service reflects the genuine respect we hold for every home and business we are invited to enter. Flexible financing options help you comfortably handle a complete fire alarm system installation without straining your household budget. A full five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the lasting quality of all of our work. We explain every recommendation in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and informed decision. For urgent electrical needs that cannot wait, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to help you fast. When you need a fire alarm system installed correctly the first time, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Fire Alarm Installation in Burleson, TX

A fire alarm system is a life safety system, so it deserves the expertise of a licensed electrician. A licensed professional understands the wiring, placement, and interconnection that make a system effective. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed electrician knows the National Electrical Code and the fire safety standards that apply. They place every detector in the right location for the earliest possible warning. They wire the system so every alarm interconnects and sounds together. They install hardwired systems with battery backup so protection continues during an outage. They pull the permits and schedule the inspections that the work requires. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. A poorly installed fire alarm system may fail at the exact moment you need it. With lives at stake, fire alarm work is no place for an unqualified attempt. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every fire alarm installation, so the work is always done right.

Commonly Asked Fire Alarm Installation Questions

Fire alarm installation raises several important questions about placement, interconnection, and maintenance. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

The cost to install a fire alarm system depends on several factors unique to your home. The size of the home is a major factor, since larger homes need more detectors. The number of detectors and their type affect the total cost. A hardwired, interconnected system costs more than basic battery detectors but offers far more protection. The accessibility of the wiring influences the labor, especially in finished homes. Adding carbon monoxide detection alongside smoke detection affects the cost. Whether you are installing a new system or upgrading an existing one matters too. Because every home differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins.

Several elements make up the total cost of a fire alarm installation. The detectors, the wiring, and the materials are part of the price. The labor reflects the skill and time required to wire and place everything correctly. Running wiring for interconnection in a finished home adds time and effort. The complexity of the layout affects how the system is wired. We assess all of these factors before quoting so there are no surprises. We never cut corners on a life safety system to lower the price. Financing options are available to make this important investment easier on your budget.

The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your home. We assess the size, the layout, and your current fire protection. We recommend the right number, type, and placement of detectors. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate fire alarm installation quote.

A smoke detector and a fire alarm system are related but not the same thing. A single smoke detector is one device that senses smoke in its immediate area. A fire alarm system is a network of detectors working together as one. In a system, the detectors are interconnected so they all sound together. A standalone smoke detector only sounds where it is, not throughout the home. A fire alarm system may include smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detectors. The system provides comprehensive, whole home protection rather than spot coverage. This difference matters a great deal for your safety.

The key advantage of a system is interconnection. When one detector in a system senses a fire, every alarm sounds. This ensures everyone in the home is warned no matter where the fire starts. A standalone detector in the basement may not be heard in an upstairs bedroom. An interconnected system removes that dangerous gap in coverage. A system also combines different detector types for broader protection. Smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detection work together in one system. This comprehensive approach is what makes a system far safer than scattered detectors.

For real protection, an interconnected fire alarm system is the better choice. Our electricians install systems that tie all the detectors together. We place each detector in the right location for early warning. We combine the detector types your home needs for full protection. We wire the system so every alarm sounds together when one detects a threat. We test the entire system to confirm it works as designed. This whole home approach gives you protection that scattered detectors cannot match. For a complete fire alarm system, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Smoke detectors should be installed throughout your home for complete protection. There should be a detector on every level, including the basement and near the attic. A detector belongs inside every bedroom for those sleeping behind closed doors. A detector also belongs outside each sleeping area in the hallway. This placement ensures a fire is detected no matter where it starts. The goal is to warn everyone early enough to escape safely. Proper placement is essential to how well the detectors protect you. Following the code and guidelines ensures complete coverage.

How detectors are mounted matters as much as where they are placed. Because smoke rises, detectors go on the ceiling or high on the wall. Detectors should be kept away from kitchens where cooking smoke causes false alarms. They should also be away from bathrooms where steam can trigger them. They should not be placed too close to vents that can blow smoke away. Heat detectors are better for kitchens and garages prone to false smoke alarms. Our electricians know the right placement for each type of detector. This knowledge ensures reliable detection without constant false alarms.

Getting placement right is a job best handled by a licensed electrician. The code and manufacturer guidelines specify where detectors belong. Our electricians follow these requirements to place every device correctly. We ensure every level, bedroom, and hallway has the coverage it needs. We choose the right detector type for each location in the home. We mount each detector at the proper height and position. This careful placement gives you the earliest possible warning of a fire. For correct smoke detector placement, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Fire alarms should be replaced on a regular schedule to stay reliable. Most smoke detectors should be replaced after about ten years. Even if a detector still seems to work, its sensors degrade over time. An aging detector may not respond as quickly or reliably to a fire. Carbon monoxide detectors often have a shorter lifespan and need replacement sooner. The manufacturer’s date on the detector tells you when it was made. Replacing detectors on schedule ensures they work when you need them. This simple step is a key part of fire safety.

Regular maintenance matters between replacements as well. Smoke detectors should be tested regularly to confirm they work. Batteries in battery powered and backup detectors need replacement on schedule. Detectors should be kept clean, since dust can affect their sensitivity. A detector that chirps is usually signaling a low battery or end of life. Ignoring these signals leaves you with unreliable protection. Our electricians can advise you on maintaining your system properly. This ongoing care keeps your protection dependable over time.

When it is time to replace your detectors, consider upgrading the system. An older system may benefit from interconnection and modern features. Upgrading to a hardwired, interconnected system improves your protection significantly. Our electricians can assess your current detectors and recommend the right approach. We replace aging detectors and upgrade the system as needed. We bring your protection up to current code and standards. We test everything to confirm the new system works correctly. To replace or upgrade your fire alarms, contact Wallace Electric.

Hardwired fire alarms with battery backup are the most reliable choice. A hardwired system draws power from your home’s electrical system. The battery backup keeps it working during a power outage. This combination ensures the system is always powered and ready. Hardwired systems are also easily interconnected through their wiring. Interconnection means every alarm sounds when one detects a fire. This whole home protection is a major advantage of hardwired systems. For these reasons, hardwired systems are the standard for reliable protection.

Battery only detectors have some uses but also real drawbacks. They are simple to install since they need no wiring. However, they depend entirely on the battery for power. A dead or missing battery leaves the detector useless. Battery only detectors are also harder to interconnect across the home. They are easy to forget when it comes to battery replacement. For these reasons, battery only detectors offer less reliable protection. They are better as a supplement than as a primary system.

The best approach for most homes is a hardwired, interconnected system with battery backup. This combines reliable power, interconnection, and outage protection. Our electricians install these systems correctly and to code. We wire the detectors so they interconnect and sound together. We confirm the battery backup works for outages. We test the entire system to ensure reliable protection. This approach gives you the dependable coverage your family deserves. For a hardwired fire alarm system, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Interconnected smoke detectors are detectors that communicate and sound together. When one detector senses a fire, all the connected detectors sound their alarms. This means an alarm in the basement triggers the alarm in your bedroom. The entire home is alerted at once, no matter where the fire starts. This is a major safety advantage over standalone detectors. A standalone detector only sounds where it is located. A person far from that detector might not hear it in time. Interconnection closes that dangerous gap in coverage.

The value of interconnection becomes clear in a real fire. A fire often starts in an unoccupied part of the home. Without interconnection, the alarm there may not wake sleeping family members. With interconnection, every alarm sounds the instant the fire is detected. This gives everyone the maximum time to escape safely. Those extra seconds and minutes can save lives. This is why modern code often requires interconnected detectors. The feature is one of the most important in fire safety.

Interconnection can be achieved through wiring or wireless communication. Hardwired systems interconnect through the wiring our electricians install. Some wireless detectors interconnect by communicating with each other. Our electricians help you choose the right approach for your home. We install the system so every detector connects and sounds together. We test the interconnection to confirm it works correctly. This unified protection is what makes a fire alarm system effective. For interconnected smoke detectors, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Hardwired, interconnected smoke detectors are required by code in many situations. New construction typically requires hardwired, interconnected detectors with battery backup. Major renovations often trigger the same requirement for the affected areas. The specific requirements come from the building code and local amendments. Cities around Burleson, including those in Tarrant and Johnson counties, enforce these codes. The requirements exist because hardwired, interconnected systems are far more reliable. They ensure power, interconnection, and outage protection all work together. A licensed electrician knows which requirements apply to your project.

The code requirements have evolved to improve fire safety over time. Older homes may have been built under less strict requirements. When you renovate or upgrade, current code may apply to the work. This often means adding hardwired, interconnected detectors. Even when not strictly required, upgrading is a wise safety improvement. The reliability of a hardwired, interconnected system is worth the investment. Our electricians explain the requirements that apply to your home. We ensure your system meets or exceeds the code.

Meeting code is about more than passing inspection, it is about safety. A code compliant system gives you reliable, proven protection. Our electricians install systems that meet the current code requirements. We pull the permits and handle the inspections the work requires. We wire the detectors for interconnection and install battery backup. We place every detector in the right location for early warning. We test the system to confirm it meets the standards. For a code compliant fire alarm system, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Some fire alarm systems detect carbon monoxide, but not all do. Standard smoke detectors sense smoke, not carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a separate hazard that requires its own type of detector. Many homes use combination detectors that sense both smoke and carbon monoxide. A complete safety system often includes both smoke and carbon monoxide detection. Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless gas that can be deadly. It comes from fuel burning appliances, furnaces, and attached garages. Detecting it requires a dedicated carbon monoxide sensor.

Carbon monoxide detection is critical because the gas gives no warning on its own. You cannot see, smell, or taste carbon monoxide. Without a detector, dangerous levels can build up undetected. Carbon monoxide detectors belong near sleeping areas and on every level. They alert you to the gas before it reaches harmful levels. This protection is just as important as smoke detection. A complete system protects against both fire and carbon monoxide. This dual protection gives your family comprehensive safety.

Our electricians can install combination detectors or dedicated carbon monoxide detectors. We assess your home to recommend the right protection. We place carbon monoxide detectors in the correct locations for your home. We integrate them into your fire alarm system where appropriate. We wire and test everything to confirm reliable protection. This ensures your home is protected against both hazards. We explain the system so you understand your full protection. For combined smoke and carbon monoxide protection, contact Wallace Electric.
