We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

Caleb and his partner came on time and got right to work. They were absolutely great to work with. They were professional and treated my home with respect. The outlet was installed to the exact specifications that was needed by the installer. After they were done they made sure everything was I working order and then cleaned up. I was highly impressed. Electrical Panel Repair Service

The electrical panel distributes power to every single circuit in your home, so any problem inside it can quickly affect your whole house. When a panel develops a fault, the symptoms can range from a single dead circuit all the way to flickering lights across the entire home. Wallace Electric repairs electrical panel problems of every kind for homes and businesses throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities. A panel repair is quite different from a full replacement, since many common problems can be fixed without replacing the entire unit at all. A loose connection, a failed breaker, a damaged bus bar, or a corroded lug can very often be repaired directly without a full replacement. The real key to any successful repair is an accurate diagnosis that identifies exactly what has gone wrong inside the panel. Our licensed electricians always test methodically rather than guessing, since a panel holds many different components that all interact with one another. They always trace the symptom back to its true source before recommending any particular repair. That careful and patient approach saves you from paying for unnecessary work and ensures the real underlying problem actually gets fixed. A properly diagnosed and repaired panel restores safe, steady, and reliable power to your entire home.

Panel problems show up in many ways, and learning the warning signs helps you act before they worsen. A breaker that trips repeatedly may point to a deeper panel issue rather than a simple circuit overload. Flickering or dimming lights throughout the home can often signal a loose connection somewhere inside the panel. A burning smell coming from the panel is one of the most serious warnings of all and demands your immediate attention. A panel that feels warm to the touch clearly indicates that heat is building up somewhere it absolutely should not be. Buzzing or crackling sounds coming from the panel strongly suggest arcing, which is a genuine and immediate fire hazard. Scorch marks, melted plastic, or any discoloration inside the panel reveal connections that have already overheated badly. Rust or corrosion inside the panel points to moisture intrusion that can slowly damage the internal components over time. A breaker that will not reset or refuses to stay on may indicate a fault either in the panel itself or in the circuit it protects. Recognizing these warning signs early lets our electricians repair the problem before it ever becomes truly dangerous.

Loose and corroded connections are among the most common panel problems we repair. Inside the panel, breakers connect to the bus bar, and circuit wires connect to the breakers. Over time, these connections can gradually loosen from thermal cycling, vibration, or simply the natural effects of age. A loose connection forces electricity to jump across a tiny gap, and that constant arcing generates a surprising amount of intense heat. That heat discolors the metal, melts nearby insulation, and can damage both the breaker and the bus bar over time. A loose connection often causes flickering lights, intermittent power, or nuisance breaker trips. Our electricians carefully inspect every connection in the affected area and then torque each one to the manufacturer’s specification. We also clean or fully replace any corroded connections in order to restore a solid and reliable electrical path. Catching a loose connection early prevents it from causing wider and more expensive damage to the rest of the panel. This kind of focused repair often restores reliable power and removes a very real fire risk at the same time.

Failed breakers are another frequent reason homeowners call us for panel repair. A breaker contains moving parts and internal springs that gradually wear out after years of steady use and repeated tripping. A breaker that trips below its rating, refuses to reset, or feels hot to the touch has very likely failed internally. We test the breaker carefully to confirm if the fault lies in the breaker itself or in the circuit it protects. When a breaker has clearly failed, we replace it with a device that is properly listed and rated for your specific panel. Compatibility matters a great deal here, since the wrong breaker can create a loose fit or quietly leave a circuit unprotected. We never install a mismatched breaker just to save a little time, because the resulting danger is simply not worth it. We also closely inspect the breaker’s connection to the bus bar for any signs of heat damage. Sometimes a single failed breaker reveals a larger underlying panel issue that deserves further attention. Our careful and methodical testing ensures that we replace only the component that has actually failed.

Some panel problems run deeper than a single connection or breaker. A damaged bus bar, which is the metal component that distributes power to all of the breakers, is a particularly serious issue. Bus bar damage very often results from a failed breaker, a chronic loose connection, or long term overheating inside the panel. When the bus bar itself is damaged, the affected breaker positions may no longer make solid and reliable contact. In some cases we can repair just the affected area, while in others the extent of the damage requires a full panel replacement. We assess the full extent of the damage honestly and then explain all of your options to you clearly. Water intrusion is another deep and serious problem, since moisture corrodes connections and creates unwanted fault paths. A panel that has been exposed to water needs a careful and thorough evaluation to determine what can actually be safely repaired. Our experienced electricians have the judgment to know when a repair is sound and safe and when a replacement is the wiser choice. We always put your family’s safety first when making that important recommendation.

Diagnosing a panel problem correctly is the most important part of any panel repair. A panel contains many components, and the same symptom can have several different causes. A tripping breaker might be caused by a bad breaker, a loose connection, a hidden circuit fault, or a simple overload. Flickering lights might originate from the panel, from the service connection, or even from the utility line itself. Our electricians test systematically to carefully separate these possibilities rather than simply guessing at the underlying cause. We measure voltage, inspect every connection, and trace the circuits to find the true source of the problem inside the panel. We check the entire panel against the National Electrical Code to identify any safety issues that may be present. This careful and patient diagnosis prevents us from replacing parts that were never actually the problem. It also ensures that the actual fault gets fully repaired so the same problem does not simply return later. Accurate diagnosis saves you money on unnecessary parts and restores genuine, lasting safety to your panel.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your panel repair means choosing accuracy, honesty, and real care for your safety. We are a family owned and operated company with deep roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly inside your panel and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish the job. Our white glove service reflects the respect we hold for every home and business we enter. Flexible financing options help you comfortably handle larger panel repairs without straining your household budget all at once. A five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the quality of our work. We explain every finding in plain language so you can make a confident, informed decision. For urgent panel failures, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to restore safe power. When you need a panel repair done right, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Electrical Panel Repair in Burleson, TX

Repairing an electrical panel means working inside an energized environment that carries lethal voltage. The main lugs in a panel often stay energized even when the main breaker is off. A licensed electrician understands this danger and follows the procedures that keep the work safe. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed professional knows how to diagnose a panel problem accurately rather than guessing. They can tell the difference between a failed breaker, a loose connection, and a circuit fault. They recognize when a repair is sound and when the damage calls for replacement instead. They make every repair to the National Electrical Code and the local amendments around Burleson. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. A panel repaired incorrectly can overheat, fail to protect your circuits, or even start a fire. Unlicensed panel work may seem cheaper today and create a serious hazard tomorrow. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every panel repair, so the work is always done right.

Commonly Asked Electrical Panel Repair Questions

Electrical panel repair raises several practical questions about cost, safety, and when repair makes sense. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

The cost of electrical panel repair depends on what is actually wrong inside the panel. A simple fix, like tightening a loose connection, costs far less than a complex repair. Replacing a failed breaker adds the cost of the device, which varies by type and panel compatibility. Repairing a damaged bus bar is more involved and costs more than a connection repair. The accessibility of the panel and the extent of the damage both affect the price. A repair that addresses water damage or corrosion may require more time and materials. Because every panel problem differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins. We diagnose the issue first so you know exactly what the repair involves.

The diagnosis is an essential part of the repair and its cost. Finding the true cause of a panel problem takes skill, proper tools, and careful testing. An accurate diagnosis prevents wasted money on parts that were never the problem. We measure voltage, inspect connections, and trace the fault to its source. This upfront work ensures the repair actually solves the problem the first time. Skipping diagnosis to save money often leads to repeat visits and higher overall cost. We believe a fair price reflects an accurate diagnosis and a lasting repair. Financing options are available for larger panel repairs that go beyond a simple fix.

The most reliable way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate the panel. We open the panel safely, test the components, and identify exactly what is wrong. We then explain whether the fix is a connection repair, a breaker replacement, or something more. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate panel repair quote.

Many panel problems can be repaired without replacing the entire panel. A loose connection, a corroded lug, or a single failed breaker are all repairable issues. When the panel itself is sound and only a component has failed, repair is the right choice. This approach saves you the cost and disruption of a full replacement. Our electricians diagnose the problem to determine whether repair will fully resolve it. We then make the repair to code and verify the fix with live readings. A targeted repair restores safe power and addresses the actual fault. This is the most common outcome for many panel service calls.

Some situations call for replacement rather than repair. A panel with extensive bus bar damage may not be safely repairable. A panel from a manufacturer with a known history of failure is often better replaced. An undersized panel that cannot meet your home’s demands needs an upgrade, not a repair. A panel with widespread heat damage or corrosion may be beyond a sound repair. In these cases, replacement is the safer and more sensible long term choice. Our electricians assess the panel honestly and explain when replacement makes more sense. We never recommend a replacement when a repair would safely solve the problem.

Deciding between repair and replacement requires professional judgment. Our electricians evaluate the extent of the damage and the overall condition of the panel. We consider the panel’s age, brand, capacity, and the nature of the fault. We weigh the cost of repair against the value of a replacement. We then explain our recommendation and the reasoning behind it clearly. You remain in control of the decision with full information in hand. This honest approach ensures you get the right solution for your situation. For a clear answer on repair versus replacement, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

A buzzing or humming electrical panel is a warning sign that should not be ignored. A faint hum can sometimes be normal, but loud buzzing usually signals a problem. The most common cause is a loose connection that is arcing inside the panel. Arcing produces a buzzing or crackling sound along with dangerous heat. A failing breaker that is not seating properly can also produce noise. A loose connection at the bus bar generates both sound and heat as electricity jumps the gap. These sounds indicate that electricity is not flowing through a solid connection. That condition is a genuine fire hazard that needs prompt attention.

The danger of a buzzing panel lies in the heat that accompanies the sound. Arcing connections generate intense heat that can melt insulation and damage components. Over time, that heat can ignite the materials inside or around the panel. A buzzing panel is essentially warning you of a fault that is actively worsening. Ignoring the sound allows the problem to grow more dangerous. The crackling or sizzling variation of the sound is especially concerning. These noises mean the arcing is significant and the risk is high. Prompt professional attention is the safe response to any unusual panel noise.

If your panel is buzzing, the safest step is to call a licensed electrician. Our electricians can safely open the panel and trace the source of the noise. We inspect the connections, the breakers, and the bus bar for arcing and heat. We tighten or repair loose connections and replace any failed components. We verify the repair to confirm the noise and the hazard are gone. Attempting to investigate a buzzing panel yourself is dangerous given the live voltage. The arcing that causes the noise can also cause a serious shock. For a buzzing or noisy panel, contact Wallace Electric right away.

Yes, a warm or hot electrical panel is a sign of a dangerous problem. A properly functioning panel should not feel warm to the touch. Heat inside a panel indicates that electricity is meeting resistance somewhere it should not. The most common cause is a loose or corroded connection that generates heat as current passes. An overloaded panel running near its limit can also produce excess heat. A failing breaker that is not making solid contact adds to the heat as well. Whatever the cause, heat inside a panel is a serious warning sign. It points to a fault that can worsen into a fire if left unaddressed.

The danger of a hot panel comes from the path that heat can take. Heat degrades insulation, damages breakers, and weakens the bus bar over time. As components degrade, the resistance and the heat both increase in a worsening cycle. Eventually, that heat can ignite insulation or other materials inside the panel. A hot panel may also be a symptom of an overloaded electrical system. An overloaded panel needs either load redistribution or a capacity upgrade. Either way, a hot panel demands prompt professional evaluation. Touching a hot panel repeatedly is not a safe way to monitor it.

If your panel feels warm or hot, call a licensed electrician promptly. Our electricians safely open the panel and use the right tools to find the heat source. We check the connections, the breakers, and the bus bar for resistance and damage. We repair loose connections and replace failed components to eliminate the heat. If the panel is overloaded, we discuss load management or an upgrade. We verify the repair so the panel returns to a safe operating temperature. Addressing a hot panel early prevents it from becoming a fire. For a warm or hot panel, contact Wallace Electric without delay.

Several factors can cause an electrical panel to fail over time. Loose connections are a leading cause, since they generate heat that damages components. Corrosion from moisture intrusion attacks the connections and the bus bar. Overloading the panel beyond its capacity stresses the breakers and the wiring. Age plays a role, since older panels degrade and their components wear out. Manufacturing defects in certain panel brands lead to premature and dangerous failures. Physical damage or improper past modifications can also compromise a panel. Each of these factors can push a panel toward partial or complete failure.

Heat is the common thread in many panel failures. Loose connections, corrosion, and overloading all generate excess heat inside the panel. That heat degrades insulation, weakens metal components, and damages breakers. As the damage accumulates, the panel becomes less able to do its job safely. A breaker that no longer trips correctly is a dangerous result of this degradation. A bus bar damaged by heat may no longer make solid contact with breakers. These failures often develop slowly and hide until a symptom appears. Recognizing the early signs helps you address the problem before total failure.

Preventing panel failure starts with proper installation and periodic attention. A panel installed correctly by a licensed electrician is less prone to early failure. Avoiding overloading and addressing warning signs promptly extends a panel’s life. Periodic inspection can catch loose connections and corrosion before they cause damage. Our electricians can evaluate your panel and identify developing problems. We repair issues early to prevent them from leading to failure. We also advise when a panel has reached the end of its safe life. For an evaluation of your panel’s condition, contact Wallace Electric.

Several warning signs indicate that your electrical panel may need repair. Frequent breaker trips that are not explained by a simple overload are one sign. Flickering or dimming lights throughout the home can point to a panel issue. A burning smell or scorch marks near the panel are serious warning signs. A panel that feels warm or hot to the touch indicates a problem inside. Buzzing, crackling, or humming sounds from the panel signal arcing connections. A breaker that will not reset or stay on may indicate a panel fault. Any of these signs warrants a professional evaluation of your panel.

Visual signs inside and around the panel also reveal problems. Rust or corrosion points to moisture intrusion that can damage components. Discoloration or melted plastic indicates connections that have overheated. Scorch marks around breakers show where arcing or heat has occurred. A panel that looks damaged or shows signs of past repairs deserves attention. These visual cues often accompany the symptoms you notice elsewhere in the home. An electrician can interpret these signs and confirm the underlying issue. Noticing them early gives you the chance to repair before failure.

When you notice any of these signs, the safe step is a professional evaluation. Our electricians safely open and inspect the panel to diagnose the issue. We identify whether the problem is a loose connection, a failed breaker, or something deeper. We then explain the repair and the reasoning behind it in plain language. We never recommend work that is not needed to restore safety. We verify every repair before we consider the job complete. This honest, thorough approach gives you confidence in the result. To find out if your panel needs repair, contact Wallace Electric.

Repairing an electrical panel yourself is not safe for most homeowners. The work takes place inside an energized environment with lethal voltage present. The main lugs often stay energized even when the main breaker is off. A simple mistake in that environment can cause severe injury or death. Diagnosing a panel problem also requires knowledge and tools most homeowners lack. Telling a failed breaker from a loose connection or circuit fault is not obvious. A wrong diagnosis can leave a real hazard in place while appearing to fix the symptom. The risks of this work far outweigh any savings from skipping a professional.

Licensed electricians train for years to work safely inside electrical panels. They know how to verify which parts are energized and follow safe work practices. They have the tools to measure voltage, inspect connections, and trace faults. They understand which breakers are compatible with your specific panel. They recognize when a repair is sound and when replacement is necessary instead. These professional judgments protect your home and the people inside it. A homeowner working alone often lacks both the tools and the experience. The margin for error in a live panel is dangerously thin.

There are minor electrical tasks a confident homeowner can handle safely. Repairing a panel is simply not one of those tasks. The combination of lethal voltage and complex diagnosis makes it professional work. Wallace Electric handles the entire process safely, from diagnosis to repair to testing. Our background checked technicians complete the work cleanly and fully to code. You gain a safe repair backed by a five year parts and labor warranty. Save yourself the serious risk and let a licensed electrician do the job right. For safe panel repair, contact the team at Wallace Electric.

A burning smell from your electrical panel is a serious emergency that requires immediate action. The smell usually means a connection is overheating or a component is burning. This condition can lead to an electrical fire if not addressed quickly. The first priority is the safety of everyone in the home. If you smell burning and see smoke or flames, leave the home and call emergency services. Do not attempt to investigate or open the panel yourself in that situation. Your safety is far more important than the panel itself. Treat any burning smell from the panel as the urgent warning it is.

If there is a burning smell but no active fire, you still need to act fast. If you can do so safely, switch off the main breaker to cut power to the panel. This stops the flow of current that is causing the overheating. Then call a licensed electrician right away for emergency service. Do not continue using the electrical system until the panel is inspected. Continuing to use it risks turning the developing fault into a fire. Keep everyone away from the panel until a professional arrives. The burning smell means the danger is already present and growing.

Our emergency electricians are available around the clock for exactly this kind of situation. We respond quickly to diagnose and repair the cause of the burning smell. We safely inspect the panel for overheated connections, arcing, and damaged components. We repair or replace whatever is causing the overheating to eliminate the hazard. We verify the repair so your panel returns to safe operation. A burning smell is never something to monitor or ignore. It is a clear sign that your panel needs immediate professional attention. If you smell burning from your panel, call Wallace Electric right away.
