March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

Electrical Grounding Service

Electrical grounding is the essential safety system that gives stray electrical current a safe and direct path to follow into the earth. Every electrical system needs a reliable way to handle fault current, sudden surges, and the unexpected events that can quickly make a circuit dangerous. Grounding provides exactly that path, directing dangerous current safely away from people and into the ground where it can do no harm. Wallace Electric installs, inspects, and repairs grounding systems for homes and businesses throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities. A properly grounded electrical system protects your family, your expensive appliances, and your entire home from the very real dangers of both electric shock and fire. Without proper grounding, a single fault could energize the exposed metal parts of an appliance and shock anyone who happens to touch it. Grounding also gives your surge protection somewhere safe to send the excess energy from a lightning strike or a sudden power surge. Our licensed electricians thoroughly understand the National Electrical Code requirements for grounding and apply them carefully on every single job. They install ground rods, bonding conductors, and all the critical connections that tie your whole electrical system together safely. That careful and precise work stays invisible almost all of the time, yet it stands quietly ready to protect you the very moment something goes wrong.

Grounding and bonding work together as a complete safety system, though they serve slightly different roles. Grounding connects your electrical system to the earth through ground rods or other approved electrodes. Bonding connects the metal parts of your electrical system together so they all safely share the same electrical potential. Together, they ensure that any fault current always has a clear, low resistance path back to its source. That clear path is exactly what allows a breaker to trip quickly and reliably the moment a fault occurs. Without proper grounding and bonding in place, a fault might not trip the breaker at all, leaving an entire circuit silently dangerous. The metal enclosures, conduit, piping, and equipment throughout your home all need proper bonding to stay safe. Our electricians carefully install and then verify these connections so your system performs exactly the way the code intends. We also test the actual resistance of the grounding system to confirm it can reliably do its critical job. This careful attention to detail is exactly what separates a truly safe installation from one that merely appears safe on the surface.

Older homes in Burleson often have grounding systems that no longer meet current safety standards. Homes built many decades ago may have ungrounded outlets, missing or undersized ground rods, or outdated wiring methods. Two prong outlets scattered through the house are a common sign that a home lacks proper grounding throughout its circuits. Some older systems relied on grounding methods that the modern code simply no longer considers adequate for real safety. Aluminum wiring, deteriorated connections, and corroded ground rods all gradually reduce the effectiveness of an aging grounding system. Our electricians inspect these older systems and identify exactly where the grounding falls short. We then bring the entire system up to current code with proper ground rods, conductors, and bonding. Upgrading the grounding in an older home is genuinely one of the most important safety improvements that any homeowner can make. It protects against shock, supports modern surge protection, and allows the safe use of three prong devices. We handle these important upgrades carefully and thoroughly so your older home gains the same protection that a fully modern system provides.

The signs of a grounding problem are not always obvious, but several warning signs deserve attention. Two prong outlets found throughout the home strongly indicate that those circuits likely lack a proper ground. Outlets that test as falsely grounded, reverse polarity, or improperly wired all point directly to a grounding issue. A mild shock or a faint tingle when touching an appliance is a serious warning that should never be ignored under any circumstances. Frequent and unexplained damage to electronics from power fluctuations can clearly signal a grounding or surge problem. Flickering lights, buzzing outlets, or a faint burning smell may all relate back to underlying grounding faults. Surge protectors that mysteriously fail to protect your equipment may simply have no proper ground to work with. Our electricians use specialized testing equipment to carefully check whether your outlets and circuits are actually grounded properly. We then identify the true source of any grounding fault and repair it properly to fully restore your protection. Catching these grounding problems early protects both your family from shock and your valuable electronics from costly damage.

A proper grounding system depends on several components working together correctly. The grounding electrode, usually one or more copper ground rods driven deep into the earth, anchors the entire system. The grounding electrode conductor then connects the main panel to those rods using a properly sized copper wire. Equipment grounding conductors run alongside your circuits to safely ground the exposed metal parts of outlets and appliances. Bonding jumpers tie together the metal water pipes, gas pipes, and other building systems that all need to share the same potential. The main bonding jumper connects the neutral and the ground at the service, which is one of the most critical safety points in the system. Each one of these components must be properly sized and connected according to the strict requirements of the National Electrical Code. Our electricians install every piece correctly and verify the connections throughout the system. A single weak link anywhere in this connected chain can quietly compromise the safety of your entire electrical system. We treat grounding as the complete and connected safety system it truly is, rather than as a single isolated connection.

Grounding does far more than prevent shock, since it also protects your home from fire and equipment damage. A properly grounded system allows breakers to trip quickly during a fault, cutting power before wires overheat. This rapid response is what prevents a fault from igniting the materials around it. Grounding also gives whole house surge protection a path to divert dangerous energy safely into the earth. A single lightning strike or utility surge can destroy your electronics in an instant without proper grounding and surge protection in place. Sensitive devices like computers, televisions, and smart home equipment all depend on a stable and reliable ground reference. Without that stable reference, these devices can suffer permanent damage or begin to behave erratically over time. Our electricians ensure your grounding system supports both safety and the protection of your valuable equipment. Pairing a solid grounding system with whole house surge protection gives your home a strong and dependable layer of defense. This powerful combination protects everything in your home, from your largest major appliances down to your smallest sensitive electronics.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your electrical grounding means choosing safety, expertise, and genuine care for your home. We are a family owned and operated company with deep roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly, carefully respect your home, and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish. Our white glove service reflects the respect we hold for every home and business we enter. Flexible financing options help you handle larger grounding and panel work without straining your budget. A five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the lasting quality of our work. We explain each of our recommendations in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and fully informed decision. For urgent electrical safety concerns that cannot wait, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to help you fast. When you need electrical grounding done correctly, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Electrical Grounding in Burleson, TX

Electrical grounding is a life safety system, so it deserves the expertise of a licensed professional. A licensed electrician understands the National Electrical Code requirements for grounding and bonding in detail. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified and unsafe work. A licensed professional knows how to size grounding conductors and install ground rods correctly. They understand how grounding and bonding work together to protect people and property. They can test the grounding system to confirm it will perform when a fault occurs. They recognize when an older home’s grounding falls short of current safety standards. A grounding mistake is dangerous precisely because it stays hidden until a fault makes it deadly. An improperly grounded system may not trip a breaker during a fault, leaving a circuit live and dangerous. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. Unlicensed grounding work may look fine yet fail at the exact moment you need it most. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every job, so your grounding is always done right.

Commonly Asked Electrical Grounding Questions

Electrical grounding raises several important questions about safety, older homes, and how the system actually protects you. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

Electrical grounding is a safety system that connects your electrical system to the earth. It gives stray or fault current a safe path to follow instead of traveling through a person. When a fault occurs, grounding directs that dangerous current into the ground where it does no harm. This protects anyone who might be touching an appliance or fixture when something goes wrong. Grounding also allows your breakers to trip quickly during a fault, cutting power fast. That rapid response prevents wires from overheating and igniting the materials around them. Without grounding, a fault could energize metal surfaces and create a serious shock or fire hazard. This is why every modern electrical system relies on proper grounding for safety.

Your home needs grounding for several closely related reasons. The first is protection from electric shock, which grounding provides by diverting fault current safely. The second is fire prevention, since grounding helps breakers trip before a fault can start a fire. The third is equipment protection, because grounding gives surge protection a path to the earth. Sensitive electronics also rely on a stable ground reference to operate correctly. A home without proper grounding leaves all of these protections incomplete. Grounding works silently in the background, ready the instant a problem appears. Its value becomes clear only when a fault occurs and the system protects you.

Grounding is not optional in a safe electrical system, and code reflects that. The National Electrical Code sets detailed requirements for how a home must be grounded. These rules exist because grounding is fundamental to electrical safety. Our electricians install and verify grounding to meet these requirements on every job. We confirm the ground rods, conductors, and bonding all work together correctly. We test the system to ensure it will perform when called upon. This careful work gives your home the protection that code intends. For grounding that keeps your family safe, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

There are several signs that can indicate whether your house is properly grounded. The presence of three prong outlets throughout the home is a basic starting point. However, a three prong outlet does not guarantee the circuit is actually grounded. Some outlets are wired to look grounded without a true ground connection behind them. Two prong outlets are a clear sign that those circuits likely lack a ground entirely. The age of your home offers another clue, since older homes often have grounding gaps. A modern panel with proper ground rods suggests the system was grounded correctly. These signs give a general picture but do not replace a professional test.

The only reliable way to confirm proper grounding is to test the system. Our electricians use specialized outlet testers to check each receptacle for a true ground. We verify that outlets are not falsely grounded or wired with reversed polarity. We inspect the panel to confirm the grounding electrode conductor and bonding are correct. We check the ground rods and their connections for corrosion or damage. We can measure the resistance of the grounding system to confirm its effectiveness. This testing reveals problems that are invisible from a simple visual inspection. Accurate testing is the only way to know your grounding truly protects you.

Certain warning signs should prompt a grounding inspection right away. A mild shock or tingle from an appliance is a serious sign of a grounding problem. Frequent electronics damage, flickering lights, or buzzing outlets can also point to grounding faults. Surge protectors that fail to protect your equipment may lack a proper ground. If you notice any of these signs, a professional inspection is the safe next step. Our electricians identify exactly where the grounding falls short and repair it. We restore your protection and confirm the system performs as it should. To know for certain whether your home is grounded, contact Wallace Electric.

Grounding and bonding are closely related but serve different roles in your electrical system. Grounding connects your electrical system to the earth through ground rods or other electrodes. This connection gives fault current and surges a path into the ground where they do no harm. Bonding, on the other hand, connects the metal parts of your system together. This includes enclosures, conduit, piping, and equipment that could otherwise carry stray current. Bonding ensures all these metal parts share the same electrical potential. When everything is at the same potential, there is no voltage difference to cause a shock. Together, grounding and bonding form a complete and effective safety system.

The two systems work hand in hand to protect people and property. Bonding ties the metal components together into one connected path. Grounding then connects that path to the earth through the grounding electrode. This combination gives fault current a clear, low resistance route back to the source. That route is what allows a breaker to trip quickly when a fault occurs. Without bonding, some metal parts could become energized without tripping the breaker. Without grounding, the system would lack a reference to the earth. Each one depends on the other to provide full protection.

Both grounding and bonding must meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code. The code specifies how to size conductors, connect components, and bond metal systems. Our electricians install and verify both grounding and bonding on every job. We confirm the metal water pipes, gas pipes, and equipment are properly bonded. We check that the grounding electrode and conductors are correct and secure. We test the system to ensure it performs the way the code intends. Getting both right is essential for a truly safe electrical system. For proper grounding and bonding, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Two prong outlets indicate that a circuit lacks a ground connection. This means the safety path that grounding provides is missing from that circuit. Without a ground, a fault could energize an appliance and create a shock hazard. Two prong outlets also prevent you from safely using three prong devices and surge protectors. Many modern electronics rely on a ground for both safety and proper operation. While two prong outlets are not always an immediate emergency, they do represent a real safety gap. Their presence usually signals that the home’s wiring predates modern grounding requirements. Addressing them improves both the safety and the function of your electrical system.

There are right and wrong ways to address two prong outlets. The wrong way is to simply replace them with three prong outlets that have no ground. This creates a false sense of safety because the outlet looks grounded but is not. A three prong outlet without a ground offers no real protection during a fault. The correct solution is to add a proper ground to the circuit. In some cases, a GFCI outlet can provide shock protection where adding a ground is impractical. Our electricians evaluate each circuit to recommend the right approach. We never install a misleading outlet that only appears to be safe.

The best long term solution is often to upgrade the grounding in the home. This involves running proper grounding conductors and updating the system to current code. Our electricians assess your wiring and panel to determine the most effective approach. We explain your options clearly so you can make an informed decision. Upgrading the grounding restores full protection and allows safe use of modern devices. It also supports surge protection that guards your valuable electronics. This kind of upgrade is one of the most worthwhile safety investments for an older home. To address two prong outlets safely, contact Wallace Electric.

The cost to ground a house depends on the size and condition of your electrical system. A simple addition of ground rods and a grounding electrode conductor is relatively affordable. Bringing an entire older home up to current grounding standards costs more because of the scope. The number of circuits that lack a ground affects the total amount of work involved. The accessibility of the wiring also matters, since hidden runs take more time to address. The condition of your panel can influence the cost if upgrades are needed there. Whether you add whole house surge protection alongside the grounding affects the price too. Because every home differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins.

Several factors shape the scope of a grounding project. An older home with many ungrounded circuits requires more work than a newer home with minor gaps. Running new grounding conductors through finished walls takes more labor than accessible runs. Adding ground rods and connecting them to the panel is a defined and predictable task. Updating the bonding for water pipes, gas pipes, and equipment adds to the work. We inspect the system thoroughly before quoting so you understand exactly what is needed. If we find additional safety issues, we explain them and let you decide how to proceed. Financing options are available to make larger grounding projects easier on your budget.

The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your home. We test your outlets, inspect your panel, and check your existing grounding components. We identify exactly where the grounding falls short and what it will take to correct it. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate grounding quote.

Yes, grounding can be added to an older home, and it is often a wise safety upgrade. Many older homes were built before modern grounding requirements existed. Their circuits may lack the ground that today’s code and devices rely on. Adding grounding brings these homes up to current safety standards. The process involves installing proper ground rods and grounding conductors as needed. It may also include updating the panel and bonding the metal systems in the home. Our electricians assess the existing wiring to determine the best approach for your home. The goal is to restore full protection without unnecessary disruption.

The method of adding grounding depends on your home’s specific wiring. In some cases, we can run new grounding conductors to ungrounded circuits. In others, a GFCI device can provide shock protection where running a ground is impractical. The right approach balances safety, cost, and the realities of your home’s construction. Our electricians explain the options clearly so you understand each path. We never install outlets that only appear grounded without a real connection. We focus on solutions that provide genuine protection rather than a false sense of safety. This honest approach ensures your upgrade actually improves your home’s safety.

Adding grounding to an older home delivers real and lasting benefits. It protects against electric shock by giving fault current a safe path. It supports surge protection that guards your electronics from damage. It allows the safe use of three prong devices throughout the home. It also brings your wiring closer to current code, which matters when you sell. Our electricians handle the work carefully and verify the system when finished. The result is an older home with the protection of a modern grounding system. To add grounding to your older home, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

An ungrounded electrical system leaves your home without a critical layer of safety. The most immediate risk is electric shock from a fault that has no safe path. When an appliance develops a fault, the metal parts can become energized. Without a ground, anyone touching that appliance could receive a dangerous shock. A ground would normally divert that current safely into the earth instead. The absence of grounding removes that protection entirely. This is the central danger of an ungrounded system. The risk stays hidden until a fault suddenly makes it real.

An ungrounded system also creates a greater fire risk. Grounding helps breakers trip quickly during a fault by providing a clear current path. Without that path, a fault may not trip the breaker promptly. The fault current can then generate heat in the wiring over time. That heat can ignite insulation, wood, and other materials inside the walls. A properly grounded system would cut power before this danger develops. The lack of grounding allows a fault to persist longer than it should. This delay is what turns an electrical fault into a potential fire.

Ungrounded systems leave your electronics vulnerable as well. Surge protection relies on a ground to divert excess energy from surges and lightning. Without a ground, a surge protector cannot do its job effectively. A power surge can then damage or destroy your sensitive electronics. Computers, televisions, and smart home devices all depend on a stable ground reference. The absence of grounding leaves these devices exposed to damage. Correcting the grounding restores all of these protections at once. If your system is not grounded, contact Wallace Electric to address it promptly.

Grounding plays an important role in protecting your home from surges and lightning. A power surge sends a sudden spike of excess energy through your electrical system. That energy has to go somewhere, and grounding gives it a safe path into the earth. Without a proper ground, surge energy has nowhere safe to discharge. Whole house surge protection works by diverting that excess energy to the ground. The grounding system is what makes that diversion possible. This is why grounding and surge protection work so closely together. A surge protector is only as effective as the ground behind it.

Lightning is an extreme example of a power surge with enormous energy. A nearby strike can send a massive spike through power lines and into your home. Grounding helps direct that energy safely into the earth, away from your equipment. While no system can guarantee protection from a direct strike, grounding greatly reduces the risk. It gives the surge somewhere to go besides through your appliances and electronics. Proper grounding combined with surge protection is the best defense available. Our electricians install both to give your home a strong layer of protection. This combination guards everything from major appliances to small electronics.

To protect against surges and lightning, grounding and surge protection must work together. A solid grounding system provides the foundation that surge protection depends on. Our electricians confirm your grounding is adequate before installing whole house surge protection. We size and connect everything correctly to handle the energy a surge produces. We verify the system so it performs when a surge or strike occurs. This layered approach protects your home far better than either measure alone. Sensitive electronics in particular benefit from this combined protection. For grounding and surge protection that work together, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
