We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

I was having some built in shelves installed that required an outlet. Caleb came recommended from my installer. Caleb set up an appointment and came out that next week. Caleb and his partner came on time and got right to work. They were absolutely great to work with. They were professional and treated my home with respect. The outlet was installed to the exact specifications that was needed by the installer. After they were done they made sure everything was I working order and then cleaned up. I was highly impressed. I will definitely be using his services again and will recommend him to my friends and family.

GFCI Outlet Installation Service

A GFCI outlet is genuinely one of the most important safety devices in your entire home, quietly protecting you from a serious electric shock. GFCI stands for ground fault circuit interrupter, and its single most important job is to cut the power the instant it senses a dangerous fault. Wallace Electric installs GFCI outlets and GFCI protection for homes and businesses of all kinds throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we serve. These protective outlets are required by code in all of the areas near water, such as kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor spaces. A good GFCI outlet senses even the tiniest imbalances in the current and shuts off the power in just a fraction of a second. This incredibly rapid response can mean the entire difference between a harmless moment and a serious or even fatal electric shock. Our licensed electricians install GFCI protection wherever the code requires it, and wherever else your family’s safety genuinely calls for it. They carefully test every single installation to confirm the protection works exactly as it was designed to. A GFCI outlet is a small and inexpensive device that quietly delivers an enormous amount of real safety. Proper GFCI installation protects your family from one of the most common and serious electrical dangers in the entire home.

Understanding exactly how a GFCI outlet works helps explain why it matters so much for your everyday safety. Electricity normally flows out on the hot wire and returns on the neutral wire in a perfectly balanced loop. A GFCI device constantly and silently monitors that delicate balance between the outgoing and the returning current. When the two currents are exactly equal, everything is working safely and normally as it should. If current ever starts leaking along an unintended path, such as through a person’s body, that balance is suddenly disrupted. The GFCI detects this tiny imbalance, often just a few milliamps in size, almost instantly. It then cuts the power in just a tiny fraction of a second, well before the current can cause any serious harm. This is exactly why a GFCI can still protect you even in situations where a standard breaker would never trip at all. A standard breaker protects the wiring from overload, while a GFCI is designed to protect people from shock. This important difference is exactly why GFCI protection is required in all wet and damp locations of the home.

The electrical code now requires GFCI protection in several specific areas of the home for several very good reasons. Kitchens require GFCI protection for the outlets that serve the countertop areas near the sink. Bathrooms require GFCI protection for every one of the outlets, since water and electricity are always a dangerous mix. Garages require GFCI protection because they are often damp environments used for many different tasks. Outdoor outlets require GFCI protection because they are constantly exposed to rain, sprinklers, and general moisture. Basements, crawl spaces, and laundry areas also all require GFCI protection under the current code. Areas near swimming pools, hot tubs, and wet bars each have their own specific GFCI requirements as well. These code requirements have steadily expanded over the years as the real, proven value of GFCI protection became clear. Our electricians know exactly where the code requires GFCI protection throughout your home. We make sure that every single required location has the GFCI protection it needs to keep you and your family safe.

Older homes very often lack the GFCI protection that current electrical code now requires. A home that was built before the GFCI requirements may have only standard outlets in the kitchen, bathrooms, and garage. These standard outlets offer no protection whatsoever against the shock hazards that GFCIs are specifically designed to prevent. Adding GFCI protection to an older home is a very valuable and genuinely worthwhile safety upgrade. We can simply replace the existing standard outlets with GFCI outlets in all of the locations that need them. We can also add GFCI protection right through the breaker panel itself in some cases. This kind of important upgrade brings an older home fully up to current electrical safety standards. Our electricians carefully assess your entire home and identify everywhere that GFCI protection is currently missing. We then add the GFCI protection in all of the right locations to keep your family safe from shock. This kind of upgrade is easily one of the single most cost effective safety improvements you can make to an older home.

A GFCI outlet that trips frequently, or simply will not reset, is trying to tell you something genuinely important. A GFCI trips because it has detected a ground fault, which may well be a very real hazard. A frequently tripping GFCI could indicate moisture inside an outlet, or a fault in a connected device or appliance. It could also indicate an underlying wiring problem that genuinely needs professional attention. A GFCI that will not reset at all may have simply failed, or it may be actively protecting you from a genuine fault. Ignoring a tripping GFCI or trying to bypass it completely removes the protection it is meant to provide. Our electricians work carefully to diagnose exactly why a GFCI is tripping and then address the true cause. We never simply bypass a GFCI just to stop the tripping, since doing that would remove your protection entirely. We find and fix the underlying problem so the GFCI works correctly and reliably again. This careful and thorough approach keeps your protection fully intact while still solving the real underlying issue at hand.

GFCI protection comes in a few different forms, and we install exactly the right one for your particular situation. A single GFCI outlet protects itself, and it can also protect other standard outlets downstream on the same circuit. This lets a single GFCI outlet protect several different locations at once, which is both efficient and cost effective. A GFCI breaker installed right in the panel protects an entire circuit, including every single outlet on it. This approach is especially useful when many outlets on a single circuit all need protection. An outdoor GFCI outlet also needs a proper weatherproof in use cover to protect it from the elements. We help you choose exactly the right approach based on your home, your existing circuits, and your specific needs. Our electricians install each and every type correctly and then test it to confirm the protection works as intended. We also explain how to test your GFCI outlets yourself so you can keep them working properly. This complete and thorough approach ensures your entire home has reliable, lasting GFCI protection for years to come.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your GFCI outlet installation means choosing real safety, proven expertise, and genuine care. We are a proudly family owned and operated company with deep roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every single technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly, carefully respect your home, and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish. Our white glove service reflects the genuine respect we hold for every home and business we are invited to enter. Flexible financing options help you comfortably handle even a larger GFCI project without straining your household budget. A full five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the lasting quality of all of our work. We explain every recommendation in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and informed decision. For urgent electrical needs that cannot wait, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to help you fast. When you need GFCI outlets installed correctly the first time, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for GFCI Outlet Installation in Burleson, TX

GFCI protection is a life safety feature, so it deserves the expertise of a licensed electrician. A licensed professional knows where the code requires GFCI protection in your home. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed electrician installs GFCI outlets correctly so the protection works as designed. They know the difference between a GFCI outlet and a GFCI breaker for each situation. They wire the outlet correctly, since reversed connections can leave a GFCI unprotected. They diagnose a tripping GFCI to find the real cause rather than bypassing it. They test every installation to confirm the protection functions properly. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. An improperly installed GFCI may fail to protect you when you need it most. A GFCI wired incorrectly can give a false sense of safety. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every GFCI installation, so the work is always done right.

Commonly Asked GFCI Outlet Installation Questions

GFCI outlets raise several practical questions about cost, requirements, and troubleshooting. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

The cost to install a GFCI outlet depends on a few factors unique to your home. A single GFCI outlet replacement is an affordable, straightforward job. The number of outlets you need installed affects the total cost. The accessibility of the outlets influences the labor involved. Adding GFCI protection where none exists may require more wiring. Choosing a GFCI breaker instead of outlets changes the approach and cost. Whether the work is a simple replacement or a larger upgrade matters. Because every home differs, Wallace Electric provides clear pricing before any work begins.

Several elements make up the total cost of GFCI installation. The GFCI outlets or breakers are part of the materials cost. The labor reflects the time and skill required for the work. Replacing an existing outlet is faster than adding new protection. A larger project covering many locations costs more than a single outlet. Bringing an older home up to code may involve several outlets. We assess your needs before quoting so there are no surprises. Financing options are available for larger GFCI upgrade projects.

The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your home. We identify where GFCI protection is needed or missing. We recommend the right approach, whether outlets or a breaker. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate GFCI installation quote.

GFCI outlets are required in areas of the home near water and moisture. Kitchens require GFCI protection for outlets serving the countertops near the sink. Bathrooms require GFCI protection for all of their outlets. Garages require GFCI protection because they are often damp. Outdoor outlets require GFCI protection due to exposure to the elements. Basements, crawl spaces, and laundry areas also require GFCI protection. These requirements exist because water dramatically increases the shock hazard. The code specifies these locations to protect you where the danger is greatest.

The specific requirements have expanded over the years. Each update to the code added more locations needing GFCI protection. Today the requirements cover most areas where water and electricity could meet. Areas near pools, hot tubs, and wet bars have additional requirements. Newer homes are built with GFCI protection in all required areas. Older homes may lack protection in areas now covered by code. A licensed electrician knows the current requirements for your home. This knowledge ensures every required location has proper protection.

Our electricians ensure your home meets the GFCI requirements. We assess each area to identify where protection is required. We check whether existing protection is present and working. We add GFCI protection in any required location that lacks it. We install the protection correctly and test it to confirm it works. We explain where protection is required and why it matters. This ensures your home is safe and code compliant. To make sure your home has the required GFCI protection, contact Wallace Electric.

A GFCI outlet that keeps tripping is responding to a detected fault. The most common cause is a ground fault, where current leaks to an unintended path. Moisture in the outlet or a connected device can cause this leakage. A faulty appliance plugged into the outlet may be the source. A wiring problem on the circuit can also cause repeated tripping. Sometimes the GFCI itself has worn out and trips without a real fault. The pattern of the tripping offers clues about the cause. Identifying the true cause requires testing rather than guessing.

The location and timing of the tripping help narrow the cause. A GFCI that trips in wet weather may have moisture intrusion. A GFCI that trips when a specific device is used points to that device. A GFCI that trips randomly may have a wiring fault or be failing. An outdoor GFCI is especially prone to moisture related tripping. These patterns guide the diagnosis toward the real problem. Reading them correctly is the first step to a lasting fix. Resetting the GFCI without finding the cause only delays the solution.

Our electricians diagnose a tripping GFCI by testing the outlet and circuit. We check for moisture, faulty devices, and wiring problems. We test the GFCI itself to see if it has failed. Once we find the cause, we repair it so the tripping stops. We never bypass the GFCI, since that removes your protection. We restore the protection while solving the underlying issue. We test the outlet to confirm it works correctly afterward. If your GFCI keeps tripping, contact Wallace Electric for an accurate diagnosis.

A GFCI outlet and a regular outlet look similar but work very differently. A regular outlet simply provides power with no built in safety feature. A GFCI outlet constantly monitors the current for a ground fault. When it detects a fault, the GFCI cuts power in a fraction of a second. A regular outlet would continue providing power during a ground fault. This difference is critical for protecting you from electric shock. The GFCI has test and reset buttons that a regular outlet lacks. These buttons let you test the protection and reset it after a trip.

The protection a GFCI provides is what sets it apart. A ground fault occurs when current escapes its intended path. This can happen through water, a damaged cord, or a person. A regular outlet offers no protection against this dangerous situation. A GFCI senses the fault and shuts off power before harm occurs. This is why GFCIs are required near water and moisture. The small added cost of a GFCI delivers life saving protection. This is a clear case where the upgrade is well worth it.

Knowing where each type belongs is important for safety. Regular outlets are fine in dry areas away from water. GFCI outlets are required in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors. Using a regular outlet where a GFCI is required is unsafe and against code. Our electricians install the right type of outlet in each location. We ensure every wet or damp area has proper GFCI protection. We bring older homes up to current code where needed. For the right outlets in the right places, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Yes, one GFCI outlet can protect multiple outlets downstream on the same circuit. A GFCI outlet has line and load terminals for this purpose. The line terminals connect to the incoming power. The load terminals connect to the outlets downstream you want to protect. When wired this way, the GFCI protects itself and everything downstream. This lets a single GFCI outlet protect several standard outlets. It is an efficient and cost effective way to provide protection. The downstream outlets gain GFCI protection without being GFCI outlets themselves.

This approach has practical advantages for many homes. It reduces the number of GFCI outlets needed on a circuit. It provides protection to outlets in hard to reach locations. The protected outlets can be standard outlets, which cost less. A single test and reset point controls the whole protected group. This makes the protection convenient to manage. The wiring must be done correctly for this to work properly. Reversed connections can leave the downstream outlets unprotected.

Our electricians wire GFCI protection correctly for your circuit. We determine the best way to protect the outlets you need. We connect the line and load terminals properly. We confirm the downstream outlets are protected as intended. We test the entire protected group to verify it works. We label the protection so you know which outlets are covered. This ensures efficient, reliable protection across the circuit. For correctly wired GFCI protection, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Testing and resetting a GFCI outlet is simple and worth doing regularly. To test it, press the button marked test on the outlet. This should cause the reset button to pop out and cut power. You can confirm the power is off by checking a device plugged in. To restore power, press the button marked reset until it clicks. This returns power to the outlet and any protected outlets downstream. Testing this way confirms the GFCI is working correctly. Experts recommend testing your GFCI outlets about once a month.

Regular testing matters because a GFCI can fail over time. A GFCI that fails may stop providing protection without warning. The monthly test confirms the protection is still functioning. If the test button does not cut power, the GFCI has failed. If the reset button will not stay in, there may be a fault. In either case, the GFCI needs professional attention. This simple test takes seconds and protects your safety. Making it a habit keeps your protection reliable.

If your GFCI fails the test or will not reset, contact a licensed electrician. Our electricians diagnose why the GFCI is not working. We determine whether the GFCI has failed or a fault exists. We replace a failed GFCI with a properly rated new one. We address any wiring fault we find during the diagnosis. We test the new installation to confirm the protection works. We explain how to test your GFCIs going forward. This keeps your home protected against shock hazards. For GFCI testing concerns, contact the team at Wallace Electric.

Many older homes benefit greatly from having GFCI outlets added. Homes built before GFCI requirements often lack this protection. Their kitchens, bathrooms, and garages may have standard outlets. These outlets offer no protection against the shock hazards GFCIs prevent. Adding GFCI protection brings the home up to current safety standards. It is one of the most valuable safety upgrades for an older home. The protection guards against a common and serious electrical danger. This makes the upgrade well worth considering for any older home.

Adding GFCI protection to an older home is straightforward. We can replace standard outlets with GFCI outlets where needed. We can also add a GFCI breaker to protect an entire circuit. The right approach depends on the home’s wiring and your needs. Some older homes have wiring that affects how GFCIs are installed. Our electricians assess the wiring and recommend the best approach. We ensure the protection is installed correctly for your home. This brings reliable shock protection to an older home.

Our electricians make adding GFCI protection simple and effective. We assess your home to identify where protection is missing. We recommend the locations that need GFCI protection most. We install the protection correctly and test it to confirm it works. We explain the upgrade and the safety it provides. We bring your home up to current code where needed. This affordable upgrade significantly improves your home’s safety. To add GFCI protection to your older home, contact Wallace Electric.

A GFCI and an AFCI both protect your home but from different dangers. A GFCI, or ground fault circuit interrupter, protects against electric shock. It senses current leaking to an unintended path and cuts power. An AFCI, or arc fault circuit interrupter, protects against electrical fires. It senses the dangerous arcing that can ignite a fire. Both devices are important safety features in a modern home. They address different hazards, so they are not interchangeable. Knowing the difference helps you understand your home’s protection.

A GFCI focuses on protecting people from shock. It is required in areas near water like kitchens and bathrooms. It responds to tiny current imbalances that signal a shock hazard. An AFCI focuses on protecting the home from fire. It is required in many living areas like bedrooms and living rooms. It responds to the arcing patterns that signal a fire risk. Each device watches for the specific danger it is designed to catch. Together they provide comprehensive electrical safety.

Some devices combine both GFCI and AFCI protection in one unit. A dual function breaker or outlet provides both types of protection. This is useful in areas where both hazards are a concern. Our electricians know where each type of protection is required. We install GFCI, AFCI, or combination devices as needed. We ensure your home has the right protection in each location. We bring older homes up to current code where appropriate. For the right protection throughout your home, trust the team at Wallace Electric.
