Professional Generator Installation Services in Burleson

A generator keeps your home powered and safe when an outage strikes. At Wallace Electric, our licensed technicians install standby and portable generators safely and to code. A standby generator starts automatically and runs on natural gas or propane during an outage. A portable generator connects through a safe inlet and interlock that we install. The heart of any installation is the transfer switch, which connects the generator safely. A transfer switch prevents dangerous backfeed that could harm utility workers and your equipment. Our team performs a load calculation to size the generator for your needs. We discuss whether you want whole house or essential circuit backup. We handle the fuel connection, the transfer switch, the wiring, and the testing. Our background checked technicians pull the permits and explain everything in plain language. With a five year parts and labor warranty available, your generator is backed for years. Wallace Electric gives you reliable backup power for the next outage.

We hired this electrician for our breaker panel replacement in Dallas after buying an older home. The existing panel wasn’t up to code and couldn’t support the modern appliances that got installed by the previous owner. They installed a new electrical service panel, whole home surge protection & hosted a city inspection. He explained everything very clearly. If you’re in need of a home electrical panel upgrade, I highly recommend them. The work was clean, efficient and the whole process was stress-free. Great experience from start to finish thanks guys!

March 11, 2026

These guys are awesome - I was painting for a customer and removed the can lights to remove popcorn texture, however they required some adjustment because of the new ceiling height. Wallace was hired by the customer to do other light renovations and so I asked them if they could add on a small scope. I know this was a big ask because it's always difficult to change your scope of work especially late at night as they were ( the customer was moving in the next day and working hard to add extra touches). But their service was awesome and obviously very skilled because the modification was quick and professional and the customer loved the seamless service. I also found the prices very affordable and would continue to do business with them.

Caleb and his partner came on time and got right to work. They were absolutely great to work with. They were professional and treated my home with respect. The outlet was installed to the exact specifications that was needed by the installer. After they were done they made sure everything was I working order and then cleaned up. I was highly impressed. I will definitely be using his services again and will recommend him to my friends and family.

Generator Installation Service

A reliable backup generator keeps your home running smoothly when the power goes out, providing real comfort, safety, and lasting peace of mind. Power outages happen across the Burleson area from severe storms, grid problems, and many other causes, sometimes lasting for hours or even days. Wallace Electric installs reliable backup generators for homes and businesses throughout Burleson and the surrounding communities we serve. A properly installed generator keeps your lights on, your food cold, your heating or cooling running, and your whole home functioning normally. For many families, a generator is about far more than simple convenience, since it can also protect vital medical equipment and critical home safety systems. Our licensed electricians install both standby generators that start up automatically and portable generator connections that you operate manually by hand. The single most critical part of any generator installation is the transfer switch, which is what safely connects the generator to your home. A proper transfer switch prevents the dangerous backfeed that could otherwise seriously harm utility workers and damage your equipment. We carefully size both the generator and the transfer switch to match your home’s actual power needs and priorities. A professionally installed generator gives you reliable, automatic backup power exactly when you and your family need it the most.

Understanding the different types of generators available helps you choose exactly the right one for your home. A standby generator is permanently installed just outside your home, much like a central air conditioning unit is. It starts up automatically within just seconds of a power outage, with no action at all required from you. A standby generator runs on either natural gas or propane, so it never needs any manual refueling during a long outage. It can power your entire home or just a set of selected essential circuits, depending entirely on the size you choose. A portable generator is a smaller, movable unit that you start up and connect manually during an outage. A portable generator costs less up front but does require you to be home to start and operate it. We install a proper connection, such as a dedicated power inlet and an interlock, so a portable generator connects safely. Our electricians will help you choose the generator type that best fits both your needs and your budget. This expert guidance ensures you get the right backup power that genuinely matches how you live and what you need.

The transfer switch is truly the heart of any safe generator installation. A transfer switch is the key device that connects your generator safely and properly to your home’s electrical system. Its most important job by far is to fully isolate your home from the utility grid whenever the generator is running. Without a proper transfer switch in place, generator power could flow back into the utility lines, a dangerous condition known as backfeed. Backfeed can electrocute utility workers who are trying to restore power and can also badly damage your generator. A transfer switch makes this dangerous backfeed impossible by safely switching your home between utility power and generator power. An automatic transfer switch works together with a standby generator to switch power over without any action from you at all. A manual transfer switch or an interlock device works with a portable generator and is simply operated by hand. Our electricians always install exactly the right type of transfer switch for your generator and your home. This one single device is exactly what makes generator power safe rather than genuinely dangerous.

Choosing the right size generator is absolutely essential to getting the backup power you actually need. A generator that is sized too small simply cannot power everything you need during a long outage. A generator that is sized too large costs more than necessary and wastes capacity you will likely never use. The right generator size depends entirely on what you actually want to power during an outage. Some homeowners want to back up their entire house, while others want to power only the essential circuits. Essential circuits typically include the refrigerator, some lighting, the heating or the cooling, and a few key outlets. Our electricians perform a careful load calculation in order to determine the right generator size for your specific goals. We discuss all of your priorities up front so the generator covers exactly what matters most to you. We then carefully balance all your needs with your budget to recommend the right generator unit for your home. This careful and deliberate sizing ensures your generator delivers exactly the backup power you actually need.

A generator installation involves several carefully coordinated steps that all require real expertise. We always begin by helping you choose the right generator type and size for your particular home. For a standby generator, we first prepare a proper level location and pour a solid pad just outside your home. We then connect the generator to a reliable fuel source, such as a natural gas line or a dedicated propane tank. We then install the transfer switch and connect it carefully to your electrical panel. We run all of the wiring between the generator, the transfer switch, and the panel safely and fully to code. We coordinate directly with both the utility company and the fuel provider as the installation requires. We pull all of the necessary permits and schedule the inspections that this significant work requires. We then thoroughly test the entire system to confirm the generator starts and powers your home correctly. The end result is a complete and reliable backup power system that is ready and waiting for the very next outage.

Generators do require regular, proper maintenance in order to remain reliable when you truly need them. A standby generator quietly runs a regular self test all on its own to confirm it is always ready to start. The fuel system, the starting battery, and all of the other components need periodic attention over time. A generator that sits unused for many months at a time may fail to start when an outage finally comes. Regular, scheduled maintenance catches small problems early, before they ever leave you without power. Our electricians can service your generator regularly and reliably keep it ready for the next outage. We check all of the connections, the transfer switch, and the overall system during every maintenance visit. We also take time to help you fully understand how to operate and maintain your generator going forward. This kind of ongoing, attentive care ensures your investment delivers backup power exactly when it matters the most. A well maintained generator is a truly reliable generator that you can always count on in an outage.

Choosing Wallace Electric for your generator installation means choosing real safety, proven expertise, and genuine care. We are a proudly family owned and operated company with deep roots in the Burleson community we serve. Every single technician we send is licensed, background checked, and drug tested for your complete peace of mind. We work cleanly, carefully respect your home, and leave the work area exactly as we found it the moment we finish. Our white glove service reflects the genuine respect we hold for every home and business we are invited to enter. Flexible financing options help you comfortably handle a generator installation without straining your household budget. A full five year parts and labor warranty stands firmly behind the lasting quality of all of our work. We explain every recommendation in clear, plain language so you can always make a confident and informed decision. For urgent electrical needs that cannot wait, our emergency electricians are available around the clock to help you fast. When you need a generator installed correctly the first time, our experienced team is always ready to assist.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Generator Installation in Burleson, TX

A generator installation involves significant electrical work that demands a licensed professional. The transfer switch, the fuel connection, and the wiring all require real expertise. In Texas, electrical licensing is regulated by the state to protect homeowners from unqualified work. A licensed electrician installs the transfer switch correctly to prevent dangerous backfeed. They size the generator and the transfer switch to match your home’s needs. They connect the generator to the panel safely and to the National Electrical Code. They coordinate with the utility and fuel provider as the work requires. They pull the permits and schedule the inspections that the installation requires. A licensed electrician also carries insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. An improperly installed generator can backfeed the grid and endanger lives. It can also fail to work when you need it most during an outage. Wallace Electric sends only licensed, background checked technicians to every generator installation, so the work is always done right.

Commonly Asked Generator Installation Questions

Generator installation raises several practical questions about cost, types, sizing, and safety. The answers below address the topics homeowners across Burleson ask us about most often.

The cost to install a generator depends on several factors unique to your home. The type of generator is the biggest factor, since standby units cost more than portable connections. The size of the generator affects the price, with larger units costing more. Whether you back up the whole house or essential circuits influences the cost. The fuel connection, such as natural gas or propane, affects the installation. The distance from the generator to the panel affects the wiring and transfer switch. Permit and inspection fees in your local jurisdiction add to the total. Because every home differs, Wallace Electric provides a clear written quote before any work begins.

Several elements make up the total cost of a generator installation. The generator itself is a major part of the price. The transfer switch, the wiring, and the materials add to the cost. The labor reflects the skill and time required for this significant work. Preparing a pad and connecting the fuel source factor into the project. Coordinating with the utility and fuel provider is part of the work. We assess all of these factors before quoting so there are no surprises. Financing options are available to make this investment easier on your budget.

The most accurate way to learn your cost is to have a licensed electrician evaluate your home. We discuss your backup power goals and assess your electrical system. We perform a load calculation to determine the right generator size. From there, we build a transparent estimate that lists each part of the work clearly. You will know exactly what you are paying for before we begin. We never add hidden charges once the job is underway. This honest approach has earned the trust of homeowners throughout Burleson. Call Wallace Electric today for an accurate generator installation quote.

Standby and portable generators differ in how they work and what they offer. A standby generator is permanently installed outside your home. It starts automatically within seconds of a power outage. It runs on natural gas or propane, so it never needs refueling during an outage. A portable generator is a movable unit you start manually during an outage. It requires you to be home to start and connect it. It runs on gasoline or propane that you must keep on hand. These differences make each suited to different needs.

A standby generator offers the most convenience and capacity. It powers your home automatically, even when you are away. It can run your whole home or essential circuits for as long as needed. It connects through an automatic transfer switch that switches over instantly. This makes it ideal for homeowners who want seamless backup power. The tradeoff is a higher upfront cost than a portable generator. For many homeowners, the convenience is well worth the investment. A standby generator is the premium backup power solution.

A portable generator offers backup power at a lower cost. It is a good option for powering essential items during shorter outages. We install a safe inlet and interlock so it connects properly. This connection prevents dangerous backfeed when you use the generator. The tradeoffs are the manual operation and the need to refuel. A portable generator suits homeowners who want affordable, occasional backup. Our electricians help you choose the right option for your needs. For either type of generator, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

A transfer switch is the device that connects your generator to your home safely. It switches your home’s power between the utility and the generator. Its most important job is to isolate your home from the grid when the generator runs. This isolation prevents a dangerous condition called backfeed. Backfeed happens when generator power flows back into the utility lines. This can electrocute utility workers trying to restore power. It can also damage your generator and your home’s equipment. A transfer switch makes backfeed impossible, which is why it is essential.

There are different types of transfer switches for different generators. An automatic transfer switch works with a standby generator. It detects the outage and switches to generator power automatically. A manual transfer switch or interlock works with a portable generator. You operate it by hand to switch over to generator power. Both types safely isolate your home from the grid. The right type depends on your generator and your needs. Our electricians install the correct transfer switch for your setup.

A transfer switch is not optional, it is a critical safety device. Connecting a generator without one is extremely dangerous and illegal. The backfeed risk endangers utility workers and your own safety. A proper transfer switch protects everyone and keeps the connection legal. Our electricians install the transfer switch correctly and to code. We test it to confirm it switches power safely. This is the part of the installation that makes generator power safe. For a safe transfer switch installation, contact Wallace Electric.

The right generator size depends on what you want to power during an outage. The first decision is whole house backup or essential circuits only. Whole house backup powers everything, which requires a larger generator. Essential circuits backup powers key items, which allows a smaller unit. Essential circuits often include the refrigerator, some lighting, and heating or cooling. The total power demand of what you want to run determines the size. A load calculation adds up that demand to find the right capacity. This ensures the generator can handle everything you need.

Several factors influence the generator size you need. The size of your home and the number of circuits matter. Large appliances like air conditioners draw significant power. Medical equipment or sump pumps may be priorities to back up. Your comfort preferences during an outage affect the choice. We discuss what matters most to you during a power loss. We balance your priorities with the generator capacity and cost. This helps us recommend a size that fits your real needs.

Our electricians determine the right size with a careful load calculation. We add up the demand of everything you want to power. We factor in the starting loads of motors and appliances. We discuss your priorities to refine the list of what to back up. We then recommend a generator sized correctly for your goals. We never undersize the generator or oversize it needlessly. This precision ensures you get the backup power you need. For help sizing your generator, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

The time to install a generator depends on the type and complexity. A standby generator installation typically takes one to a few days. The work includes preparing the pad, connecting the fuel, and wiring the transfer switch. A portable generator connection is faster, often completed in a day. The complexity of the fuel and electrical connections affects the timeline. Coordinating with the utility and fuel provider can affect scheduling. We give you a realistic timeline based on your specific installation. Our goal is to complete the work thoroughly and correctly.

A standby installation involves several coordinated steps. We prepare a location and pad for the generator outside. We connect the generator to the natural gas or propane supply. We install the transfer switch and wire it to your panel. We run the wiring between the generator, switch, and panel. Each step must be done correctly and to code. The fuel connection may involve coordinating with your gas provider. These steps take time to complete properly.

Planning keeps the installation on schedule and avoids surprises. We evaluate your site and plan the installation before we begin. We coordinate the permits, the fuel, and the utility as needed. We communicate the timeline clearly so you know what to expect. We work efficiently while keeping every step precise and to code. We test the entire system before we consider the job complete. We clean up thoroughly and leave your property in good order. For a clear timeline on your generator installation, contact Wallace Electric.

Home generators typically run on natural gas, propane, or gasoline. A standby generator usually runs on natural gas or propane. Natural gas connects to your existing gas line for an unlimited supply. Propane comes from a tank, which offers flexibility in placement. Both natural gas and propane allow a standby generator to run for extended outages. A portable generator usually runs on gasoline or propane that you store. The fuel type affects how long the generator can run during an outage. Each fuel has its own advantages depending on your situation.

Natural gas is a popular choice for standby generators. It connects to your home’s existing gas supply line. This means the generator never runs out of fuel during an outage. There is no need to store fuel or refill a tank. Natural gas is convenient and reliable for long outages. The generator draws fuel automatically as it runs. This makes natural gas ideal for hands off backup power. Our electricians coordinate the gas connection as part of the installation.

Propane is another excellent option for standby generators. It is stored in a tank on your property. Propane has a long shelf life and burns cleanly. It is a good choice where natural gas is not available. The tank size determines how long the generator can run. We help you choose the right fuel for your home and situation. We coordinate the fuel connection to ensure safe, reliable operation. For help choosing your generator fuel, trust the team at Wallace Electric.

Yes, a home generator requires regular maintenance to stay reliable. A generator that sits unused can fail to start when you need it. Regular maintenance ensures the generator is ready for the next outage. A standby generator runs a self test to check its readiness. However, the fuel system, battery, and components still need attention. Oil changes, filter changes, and inspections keep the generator running well. Skipping maintenance risks a generator that fails during an outage. Maintenance is essential to protect your investment and your backup power.

Several components need periodic attention on a generator. The engine oil and filters need changing on a schedule. The battery that starts the generator needs checking and replacement. The fuel system needs inspection to ensure clean, reliable fuel delivery. The transfer switch and connections should be checked periodically. The generator should be tested under load to confirm it works. These tasks keep the generator ready to perform when called upon. Regular care prevents the failures that leave you without power.

Our electricians can maintain your generator to keep it reliable. We perform the inspections and service the generator requires. We check the connections, the transfer switch, and the overall system. We test the generator to confirm it starts and powers your home. We help you understand the maintenance your generator needs. We catch small problems before they cause a failure. This ongoing care ensures your generator works when it matters. For generator maintenance you can rely on, contact Wallace Electric.

Yes, installing a generator requires a permit in Texas jurisdictions. Cities around Burleson, including those in Tarrant and Johnson counties, enforce this requirement. A permit triggers an inspection that confirms the work meets the National Electrical Code. This process protects you, your home, and any future owners of the property. The transfer switch, the wiring, and the fuel connection are all inspected. Skipping the permit can lead to fines and a requirement to redo the work. It can also create problems when you sell or insure your home. Wallace Electric handles the permitting process so you never have to navigate it alone.

The permit requirements for a generator can be more involved than other projects. The installation involves both electrical and fuel connections. Both may require permits and inspections from different authorities. A licensed electrician knows which permits apply to your installation. We determine all the requirements before we begin the work. We pull the permits and schedule the inspections on your behalf. This saves you time and ensures the work is properly documented. That documentation is valuable when you sell or insure your home.

Attempting a generator installation without a permit creates real risks. Unpermitted work can complicate a home sale or an insurance claim. If the work fails a later inspection, you may have to redo it. An improperly installed generator is also dangerous, especially the transfer switch. The cost of a permit is minor compared to these consequences. Wallace Electric never cuts this corner, because your safety comes first. We manage the entire permitting and inspection process as part of our service. For a permitted generator installation done right, trust the licensed team at Wallace Electric.
